Prakash Raj ‘not welcome’ in Karnataka!

Prakash Raj, the multilingual actor, is like a never-ending box of surprises. Just a few weeks ago, he got everyone riled up with his attempt to mock India’s moon mission, Chandrayaan 3. And now, guess what? He’s back in the headlines, once again for all the wrong reasons.

In a time when discussions about Sanatana Dharma (the eternal way) have been gaining momentum, Prakash Raj decided to throw his hat into the ring. He boldly stated that those who passionately speak about upholding Sanatana Dharma are not really Hindus. He didn’t stop there; he wholly backed the vitriolic comments made against Sanatana Dharma by DMK politician Udhayanidhi Stalin.

Prakash Raj didn’t hold back as he vented his views about Sanatanis, saying, “Those who speak aggressively on upholding Sanatana Dharma and Hindutva are not Hindus. They project themselves as contractors of Hindutva. We must tell them that they are speaking for furthering their political ill-intentions. People must understand it, and I hope they will.” These fiery words were spoken during his interaction with writers, artists, and activists at S.M. Pandit Rangamandir in Kalaburagi.

He didn’t stop at that; he went on to label Sanatanis as ignorant and malevolent, stating, “They don’t allow scientific thinking to spread. They want to retain poverty and illiteracy. They never demand equal education because they know that if people get educated and come out of poverty, they will start questioning.”

Now, it seems Prakash Raj’s own people are none too pleased with him. While Karnataka may not be known for being particularly pro-Sanatani, the locals seem to be changing their tune, at least when it comes to this troublemaker who calls himself an actor.

Pro-Hindu groups in Karnataka  recently staged a protest against Prakash Raj before his visit to Kalaburgi, Karnataka, over his alleged “anti-Hindu” statements. The protesters, decked out in black attire, chanted slogans and raised black flags to make their displeasure known. The police had to detain these fervent demonstrators to maintain peace.

Not too long ago, in another incident, college students took it upon themselves to “purify” their college campus after Prakash Raj’s visit. They decided to cleanse the areas he had set foot in with ‘Gaumutra’ as a form of protest. This happened in Karnataka’s Shivmogga district, and it speaks volumes about the ongoing  sentiment against the actor for his senseless commentary time and again.

It appears that Prakash Raj might face a social boycott in Karnataka if he doesn’t dial down his controversial antics. But hey, why fret when he has Tamil Nadu to fall back on, especially as long as the DMK and their allies are in power!

Looking at the controversy surrounding the actor, one can undoubtedly say that, in the grand theater of life, Prakash Raj is playing a role that’s not going over well with the audience. While freedom of speech is a cherished right, Prakash Raj should understand that it comes with responsibilities, especially for someone in the public eye. It’s vital to remember that words have power, and they can either unite or divide, make or break, construct or destruct, so one choosing them must be clear about the consequences and impact they can have on the lives of the masses.

Prakash Raj’s recent statements seem to have taken the latter route, sparking protests and controversy. Perhaps it’s time for him to reflect on the impact of his words and actions. In a diverse and culturally rich country like India, it’s essential to foster dialogue and understanding rather than stoke tensions and play divisive.. As for his future, only time will tell if he chooses to continue down this path or takes a more conciliatory route.
