MP government: In the realm of Indian politics, the age-old adage “hit and run” has now become synonymous with the Congress party’s strategic playbook. However, the Madhya Pradesh government, led by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, seems to have acquired the antidote to this game of political maneuvering. Recent developments involving an FIR against key Congress leaders, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and former Chief Minister Kamal Nath, demonstrate the state administration’s resolve to confront allegations head-on and put an end to the politics of empty accusations.
The stage was set on Saturday, August 12, when the Indore Police took a bold step by registering an FIR against the handlers of the X (formerly Twitter) accounts of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Kamal Nath, and former Union Minister Arun Yadav. This move was prompted by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)’s stern warning that legal action would be taken against the leaders for their posts on the platform. These posts accused the BJP government of corruption, which didn’t sit well with the incumbent administration.
Indore Police Commissioner, in a statement released on X, revealed that the trigger for the FIR was a false letter circulating on social media. This letter, attributed to a person named Gyanendra Awasthi, alleged that contractors across the state were compelled to pay a hefty 50 percent commission. However, when the Congress leaders failed to substantiate these claims with concrete evidence, their “hit and run” tactics came under scrutiny.
In response, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan opted for a direct confrontation. He addressed the issue during a public press conference, effectively dismantling the accusations and exposing the lack of substance in the Congress’ claims. Chouhan’s approach not only showcased the government’s transparency but also underscored their commitment to a politics of accountability.

With elections looming in less than four months, the Madhya Pradesh administration appears determined to leave no stone unturned. Interestingly, the same kind of accusations were previously leveled against the former BJP government in Karnataka. However, the response then was rather tepid, raising questions about the BJP’s readiness to counter such attacks. In contrast, the MP government seems well-prepared to counter the Congress’ political theatrics and unfounded claims.

The Congress party’s relentless pursuit of power “by hook or by crook” has become evident in their recent “hit and run” strategy. This approach involves hurling allegations and accusations without substantial evidence, hoping to score political points by tarnishing the image of opponents. However, their attempts have met their match in the MP government, which has decided to expose their tactics for what they are – political theatrics with no real substance.
It’s worth noting that the Congress party’s tactics are not limited to Madhya Pradesh alone. Similar instances have been witnessed in Uttar Pradesh and Assam as well, where their approach has been met with swift and robust counteraction. The resolve to break this pattern of political behavior seems to be spreading among state administrations, intent on quelling the theatrics and focusing on productive governance.
In a political landscape often marred by sensationalism and grandstanding, the Madhya Pradesh government’s response stands as a model of how to address baseless allegations. By insisting on tangible evidence and open dialogue, the government is not only safeguarding its own reputation but also raising the standards of political discourse in the state. As the upcoming elections draw nearer, it’s clear that Madhya Pradesh is determined to burst the bubble of empty accusations and showcase a brand of politics grounded in responsibility and accountability.
The recent FIR against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and Kamal Nath marks a significant shift in the political narrative of Madhya Pradesh. The state administration’s resolute response to baseless allegations is a testament to their commitment to a politics of substance and accountability. As the Congress party’s “hit and run” tactics face resistance from state governments across the country, it becomes evident that the era of unfounded accusations may be on the decline, replaced by a more transparent and productive political discourse.
