Sam Pitroda issues Rahul Gandhi’s Report Card: FAIL

Imagine slogging your guts out to achieve something, and one day a guy comes and says that your hard work is useless, and pointless!

This is what Congress must be feeling with the recent address of Sam Pitroda, one of the close aides to both the Gandhi family and the Congress spilled the beans as he revealed that not every scheme aims to benefit the Congress party.

Let’s understand the recent address of  of Sam Pitroda, and how he is unequivocal in his ‘criticism’ of the UPA faction!

“Every interaction not designed to benefit Congress”

To quote his own words, “Every interaction is not designed to benefit the Congress party or Rahul Gandhi. We see this as a part of our moral responsibility to talk to a larger community.”

Pitroda’s remarks came in a recent address, where he stated, “Every interaction is not designed to benefit the Congress party or Rahul Gandhi. We see this as a part of our moral responsibility to talk to a larger community.” His comments were taken as an implicit indictment of Gandhi’s political skills and acumen.

Rahul Gandhi, the scion of the Congress party, has been groomed as a political leader from a young age. However, Pitroda’s critique underscores a longstanding perception of Gandhi’s political incompetence. Sam Pitroda suggested that had Gandhi received guidance from an able mentor, he might have broken free from the political constraints he appears to be ensnared by.

Unfortunately for the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi, the individuals chosen to advise him seem to have played more the part of sycophants than mentors. These advisors have, on occasion, outdone Gandhi in political missteps, making self-destructive statements that have made both Gandhi and the Congress party targets of ridicule.

First time, Huh?

Pitroda’s public admission follows a series of controversial statements by Rahul Gandhi that were perceived as anti-India. Sam Pitroda, as the Chairman of the Overseas Congress, has since been on a mission to limit the damage caused by Gandhi’s controversial remarks. In a series of tweets, he came out in support of Gandhi, asserting that there was no reason to apologize for the controversial comments.

Attempting to stem the fallout, Sam Pitroda appeared on TV interviews with journalists Rajdeep Sardesai and Barkha Dutt. During these interviews, Pitroda attempted to defend Rahul Gandhi. However, he inadvertently scored several own goals in the process, further exacerbating the situation.

In an interaction with Rajdeep, Pitroda expressed his puzzlement over the concept of not criticizing one’s country on foreign soil, a view that is likely to stoke more controversy. He stated, “What’s the problem, though? I mean, what is this idea that you can’t say anything against your country or your foreign soil? Who came up with this concept? The world is everybody’s. So, this whole idea that you can’t go to a foreign country and say something and say whatever you want to say, what’s the problem? I just don’t get it. Where is the problem?”

The critique from Pitroda, one of Gandhi’s closest advisors, coupled with his own controversial statements, has landed a heavy blow to the Congress party. His ‘hua to hua’ comment has only intensified the party’s struggles. The situation prompts a critical question – Can the Congress party reassess its political strategy and leadership in time to restore public faith? The road ahead seems fraught with challenges, and the Congress party will need to demonstrate resilience and adaptability to navigate this storm.
