Vidyut Jammwal is a fantastic actor and he has proven it yet again

A few days ago, RAW chief Vikram Sood had mocked the Indian spy films, saying that Indian cinema, especially Bollywood, does not give our profession the respect it deserves. Without naming “Pathan”, he said that whatever is being served in India in the name of spy films is not correct. Looks seems Vidyut Jammwal has taken this rather ‘personally’.

IB 71: The game changer in Indian cinema

Undoubtedly, “The Kerala Story” has blown the Indian box office apart. However, amongst the din of this movie’s success, another movie is unfortunately overshadowed, not receiving the due it should. That movie’s name is IB 71.

Based on an actual hijacking incident of 1971, the film is directed by Sankalp Reddy, who also has films like “The Ghazi Attack” in his kitty. It stars Vidyut Jammwal in the lead role, supported by actors like Vishal Jethwa. The film is based on a mission where a unique route is devised to stop the 1971 war. How Vidyut and his associates succeed is what the film is all about.

Incidentally, the film did not shy from addressing the people as they were, be it Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the then PM of Pakistan, or Maqbool Bhat, the face of Kashmiri terrorism. However, there are rarely any Indian spy films, which focus purely on the game of espionage, minus any glitz or glamor.
But here is Sankalp Reddy and Vidyut Jammwal [also the producer], with a movie, that focuses on both brains and brawn. The film required more of acting rather than action, and Vidyut has almost aced it with flying colors. Made in just two hours, the film is a perfect, edge-of-the-seat thriller, with Vishal Jethwa acing his role as a lunatic terrorist.

Not just a martial arts expert!

When it comes to action, either Akshay Kumar comes to our mind, or to an extent Tiger Shroff. But Vidyut Jammwal is different from both of  them. He is not only proficient in martial arts, but is also equally proficient in acting.

This may sound like a joke to many, but someone who could make John Abraham uncomfortable in his debut film “Force” must have something unique. No wonder people troll “Baaghi” mercilessly, and for all the right reasons but they forget that there is a franchise like “Commando”, where our practicality and patience are not tested in the name of action.

Also, when 2020 was engulfed by the COVID pandemic, many films were brought to OTT. To everyone’s surprise, Vidyut made an earnest effort to polish his acting skills in “Khuda Hafiz”, which, if released in the hall, might have been a sleeper hit too. Now imagine if he was in place of Tiger Shroff in “War”?

Even Taran Adarsh proves

Imagine your mettle, when even a guy like Taran Adarsh does the bidding for you. Recently, a clip of his went viral, where he not only backed Vidyut and his talent, but also questioned the hypocrisy of some self-proclaimed activists.

To quote him, “Those who wail of nepotism, ironically don’t turn up for an original, non-nepotism brand film like this. Why such double standards?” Believe me, even if just once, you must’ve thought, “Bhaisaab, yeh kis Line mein Aa Gaye Aap?”
