Worst bollywood Remakes: Well, none is unaware of how despite massive PR, and the Eid special, the Farhad Samji starrer, “Kisi ka Bhai, Kisi ki Jaan” has bit the dust at the Indian box office. Made on a colossal budget of Rs. 150 crores, the movie has barely managed to earn some Rs. 160 crores worldwide, and the domestic collection hasn’t even crossed Rs. 120 crores.
However, what few know that this was the original “Bachchan Paandey”, which was initially being made with Akshay Kumar, ironically based on the Tamil flick “Veeram”. However, this is only the beginning.
Now, let’s read about Worst bollywood remakes that nobody asked for, and yet, they were made, if only to annoy the masses.
1) Bachchan Paandey:
The previous year, Bollywood had developed a “creative block” in terms of good, authentic content. Worst bollywood Remakes were regurgitated, as if the industry had a lot of money to splurge, and it all began with “Bachchan Paandey.
Since Sajid Nadiadwala had the rights reserved for both “Veeram” and “Jigarthanda”, Bachchan Paandey was made with the script of “Jigarthanda” in mind. However, the movie, apparently designed to clash with the likes of “RRR” and “KGF”, was so bad, that even a Holi release couldn’t save the film from crashing at the box office.

2) Coolie No. 1:
There are people who make remakes that are better than the original, then there are people who mess with the legacy of the original. But then comes David Dhawan, who has a special art of ruining his own classics with remakes.
What began with an unconventional decision of remaking “Judwaa”, took a nauseating turn with “Coolie No. 1”. The movie had released on Amazon Prime in 2020, and yet it was so bad that it made even “Laxmmi”, a horrible remake of “Kanchana” look heavenly.
3) Himmatwala:
Well, Ajay Devgn is probably one of the very few actors in the industry, who knows how to make the right “remakes”. But before he created his own legacy with the remake of “Drishyam”, Ajay Devgn had to suffer one of the biggest setbacks of his life, “Himmatwala”.
At that time, loudmouth filmmaker Sajid Khan, who had films like “Hey Babyy”, “Housefull” franchise, decided to make “Himmatwala” again, with Ajay Devgn and Tamannaah Bhatia at the helm of affairs, and Mahesh Manjrekar and Paresh Rawal in supporting roles.
Sajid Khan had proclaimed that “Himmatwala” would be a film Ajay Devgn would never forget. Well, he did turn out right, only that after this movie, Ajay Devgn vowed never to work with him again for the rest of his life.

4) Karaz:
2008 is known for the Great Recession. However, few know that even in the Indian content sphere, we had experienced a unique kind of recession. While Ekta Kapoor was there to ruin the Indian television, the Indian cinema, especially Bollywood was no better.
If T Series is notorious for remaking and rehashing content in the worst way possible, one should have noticed the signs with Karz itself. In 2008, cashing in on the popularity of the musician cum singer cum actor Himesh Reshammiya, T Series decided to remake the eponymous 1980 classic, “Karz”.
However, the film was doomed from the beginning. The makers hadn’t learnt from their past mistakes, they messed up in casting, and at the end, the movie turned out to be one of the worst Indian films ever made.
5) Ram Gopal Varma ki Aag:
Now you might be wondering what was the mistake T Series didn’t learn from? It was 2005, when following the success of “Sarkar”, Ram Gopal Varma decided to give “Sholay” his own twist.
None asked for it, none supported it, and yet Ram Gopal Varma went ahead. Following the copyright issues, he had to change it to “Ram Gopal Varma in Aag”, but even that couldn’t prevent it from becoming one of the biggest man-made disasters ever witnessed.
