The Pakistan connection of Atiq Ahmed

In its charge sheet, UP Police submitted before the court that Atiq Ahmed admitted to having connections’ with Pakistan’s ISI and terrorist outfit, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)

Mafia-turned-Samajwadi Party Neta Atiq Ahmed was recently gunned down in an alleged gang rivalry. Three armed assailants disguised as media personnel opened fire on Atiq and his brother Ashraf while the police were taking the criminal duo to a medical checkup. The unprecedented killing took place in full media glare, following which the police quickly nabbed the assailants. The preliminary investigation of the case has revealed several connections that have Pakistani handwriting all over it.

Murder weapon: Turkish pistol ‘Zigana’ smuggled through Pakistan

Hours after the death of the mafia duo, the UP Police, in its preliminary investigation, has revealed that the murder weapons used to kill Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were smuggled in from Pakistan. Reportedly, one accused, Sunny Singh, is said to be associated with the Sundar Bhati gang. He received the Turkish-made ‘Zigana’ pistol that was smuggled into the country by one of Sundar Bhati’s henchmen.

As per media reports, Sunny Singh, one of the accused, got in touch with Sundar Bhati, a gangster, while both were in Hamirpur Jail for separate cases. Currently, Sundar Bhati, who is based in western UP, is serving a life sentence in Sonbhadra Jail for the murder of Harendra Pradhan last year. About a year and a half ago, Bhati was in Hamirpur Jail when Sunny Singh was arrested for looting.

However, Pakistan’s imprints don’t end here. We have to rewind a little to understand why Pakistan had much to gain from the elimination of Atiq Ahmed and his mafia clan. There are many reasons to believe that more players could benefit from this outcome, but in this video/article, we have only touched on the Pakistan connection; other connections will be covered in due course of time, as it would be wrong to jump to conclusions without getting official confirmation on those lines.

Now, coming back to the Pakistani connection, a few days ago, the UP Police revealed that mafia don Atiq Ahmed had started to sing like a canary. In its charge sheet, UP Police submitted before the court that Atiq Ahmed admitted to having connections’ with Pakistan’s ISI and terrorist outfit, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Atiq became a thorn in ISI’s eyes

The Uttar Pradesh Police had highlighted that the Bahubali mass murderer Atiq Ahmed stated that he had direct ties to “Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba.”

As per the UP Police’s chargesheet, Atiq Ahmed said, “I have no dearth of weapons because I have direct connections with Pakistan’s ISI and terror organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba. Weapons from Pakistan are dropped on the Punjab border with the help of drones, and a local connection collects them. Terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir get weapons from this consignment. If you take me with you, I can help you recover that money, arms, and ammunition used in the incident.”

Further, Atiq Ahmed had connections with D-Company, which is operated from Pakistan. D-Company has been using its active local network in India to supply weapons to Atiq Ahmed.

In addition, following the Jhansi encounter of Asad Ahmed, the son of Atiq, who was accused of murder, and his accomplice Ghulam, the police revealed that Abu Salem’s henchmen had provided shelter and money to the fugitives for many days. Now, Police has launched operation to end this network of Abu Salem and rid the state of this menace completely.
