According to Jain texts, Bahubali or Gomateshwara Jain was the second son of the first Tirthankara Rishabhdev or Adinatha.

Bahubali was born in Ayodhya during the time of Ikshvaku kingdom. It is said that Adinath had a total of 100 sons. When Rishabhdev left his kingdom, there was a fight for the kingdom between his two sons – Bharata and Bahubali.
