Draksharamam Bheemeswara Swami Temple – Guide
The Draksharamam Bheemeswara Swami Temple is located on the Kakinada Road in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. In this temple the idol of main deity Bheemeswara Swami is 14 feet in height. It is made of a large crystal known as Spatikara Lingam and the upper part is white in colour which is considered to be the symbol of Ardhanarishwaran Tattvam.
The temple is considered to be one of the five most powerful temples which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and known as Pancharama Kshetram. The temple is also believed to be a Shakti Peetha where the a part of Goddess Sati fell on the earth.
History of Draksharamam Bheemeswara Swami Temple
The construction Draksharamam Bheemeswara Swami Temple was started in the mid 800 AD and was completed later in the 11th century. Many different renovation works have been done and the temple was patronized by many royal dynasties. The temple is a protected as the historical monument, whose restoration and maintenance work is being done by the Archaeological Survey of India. It is operated by the Executive Officer of the Endowment Department.

Mahashivratri is celebrated in the month of February or March with great joy and happiness in this temple. Apart from Mahashivratri Sri Swamivari Kalyanam on Bhishma Ekadashi is also a major festival which is celebrated with great enthusiasm in the temple.

Draksharamam Bheemeswara Swami Temple opens from 6:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in the morning and from 3:30 PM to 8:00 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 7:00 AM in the morning and evening aarti performed at 7:00 PM in the evening.
