The Kullu Bijli Mahadev Temple in India is prominent because a Shiva Linga is situated inside this temple which breaks into small pieces due to lightning. Local people and priests apply grain and pulse flour along with butter on the pieces to restore the linga to its original form. There are different beliefs in different sources about why this Shiva Linga breaks. The lightning strike is sheer grace of God and He wants to protect the residents here from all kinds of evil.
