Bhu Varaha Swamy Temple is a Hindu temple located at Srimushnam in Tamil Nadu. This temple is dedicated to lord Varaha who was the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, and his wife Lakshmi as Ambujavalli Thayar. The temple was made with the contributions from Medieval Cholas of the 10th century and later on with the expansions by Thanjavur Nayak king Achuthappa Nayak.

History of this Temple

Bhu Varaha Swamy Temple come into existence during the medieval chola which is seen in the inscription of 11th century. Later on the temple was expanded by Thanjavur Nayak king Achuthappa Nayak during 1560 AD to 1614 AD. Many inscription also shows that  Vijayanagara kings of the 16th century like Virupaksha Raya. This temple got the most notable and important from Achuthappa Nayak from 1560 AD to 1614 AD who built the sixteen pillar along with other smaller shrines of the temple.

Best time to visit Bhu Varaha Swamy Temple

The main festival of Bhu Varaha Swamy Temple is Brahmotsavams which is celebrated in the month of April and May. During this period of festival the main deity of temple Bhu Varaha Swami is taken for seven days round in the villages of Srimushnam.

Bhu Varaha Swamy Temple opens from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM in the morning and from 3:30 PM to 7:30 PM in the evening. Morning aarti is performed at 10:00 AM in the morning and evening aarti is performed at 6:30 PM in the evening.
