Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway Movie: A tale of two cultures

The child protection agency in Norway has an especially bad reputation.

Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway movie

Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway movie: There is a famous Hindi saying: “Shareer zinda hai, par aatma maar chuki hai.” Something similar can be felt when a child is separated from his or her mother or vice versa. Right? The most beautiful and pious relationship is between a mother and her child. Consider someone forcibly removing your child on the basis of an unfounded allegation. You would probably be anxious, desperately waiting to take back your child. Something similar to this heartbreaking incident happened with Sagarika Chakraborty in 2011, which is amazingly portrayed in the movie ‘Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’.

The case

The mother’s anguish at being separated from her children in a foreign country serves as the central theme of the mushy melodrama. The Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway movie portrayed a completely corrupt and malicious foster care system in a foreign country. The tale of a distressed woman who was driven to the brink and had no choice but to fight to be reunited with her children depicts the cultural hegemonies of some countries.

Debika Chatterjee (Rani Mukerji) experiences the negative effects of parenting her two-year-old boy and five-month-old girl in the same manner that most Indian mothers do on a regular basis. She finds it difficult to comprehend why feeding an infant with her hand or sleeping with her own kid would be perceived as force feeding and used as an excuse to disqualify her from being a mother.

Later, Sagarika was able to reclaim her children after a protracted court battle and diplomatic interference, but at the cost of losing her relationship with her husband.

How does Norway violate human rights?

Norway, often referred to as the pinnacle of utopia in the west, doesn’t comprehend it. They cannot live without immigrants but are not yet prepared to respect their traditions.

The child protection agency in Norway has an especially bad reputation. It is well-funded and quite aggressive. Cases of taking away infants born to foreign mothers went on a rampage between 2008 and 2013, removing 50 percent more kids on the grounds of a “lack of parenting skills.” Even the kids they stole from the parents don’t like them and label them abusers. Some people correctly refer to it as “state kidnapping.” Both parents’ and kids’ fundamental rights have been violated.

The Ashima Chibber-directed Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway movie starring Rani Mukherjee is a well-appreciated effort to showcase the brutal imposing of foreign beliefs and demeaning Indian culture. All in all, it’s a great movie that raises hope for justice.
