True success in Bollywood — or any field, for that matter — is sustained by the quality of a person’s work rather than swift speed. Finishing a task ahead of schedule can only earn a pat on the back.
Akshay Kumar once used to rule the big screen with his agility and back-to-back entertaining movies. But the past few years have been relatively harder for Khiladi Kumar. With a slight hint of bad luck, his knack of finishing movies or web series in a blitzkrieg, which earlier used to be his peculiar style, is now becoming a cause for his cinematic debacle.
His last five projects have failed to click among the audiences and could not manage to even recover the production cost of the project.

Speed Over Substance: Akshay Kumar’s Career Conundrum
Bollywood’s Khiladi Kumar once was known for his impeccable acting skills and the ability to deliver hits. But now he seems to have lost his touch, and all his efforts are going down the drain.
The obsession with speed has badly hurt his stellar acting career. However, he is the only person responsible for his own misfortune. The reason being that he seems to have compromised on the quality of the content he features in or the roles he plays.
“Selfiee”, his recent Hindi adaptation of the Malayalam film “Driving License”, alongside Emraan Hashmi, Diana Penty, and Nushrratt Bharuccha, had a poor run in the opening weekend. It only grossed Rs 10 crores in the first week. This is the worst movie collection made by any of his movies in the past 12–13 years.
This is not the first time Akshay has suffered a setback of this kind and magnitude. In fact, his past 5–7 films have hardly seen any success. Earlier releases like “Cuttputllii”, “Bachchhan Paandey,” and “Raksha Bandhan,” among others, have also failed to make a mark on the box office.

Despite these recurrent failures, he seems to have not worked on his current demerit. He is continuing to mass produce film after film at a brisk pace without paying much attention to the quality of the content or the roles he takes on.
His future slated projects include the sequel to “OMG”, the remake of “Surarai Pottru”, and “Capsule Gill,” which is claimed to be based on true events. As stated above, his intense focus on quantity over quality has led to a decline in his once-great reputation. However, in the face of adversity, he seems to have acknowledged this fact.
Recently, he admitted that he cannot run away from his mistakes. He has also asked the industry professionals to listen to the audience’s feedback and adapt as needed. However, it’s time that he starts preferring quality and researched content over speed and maintains his stardom in the Hindi film industry.
