Lahore 1947 movie: After a lean patch in the past few years, Bollywood seems to have started to make a comeback to attract audiences to the theatre scenes. Now, Sunny Deol seems to have brought along massive cheer for his die-hard fans. In addition to ‘Gadar 2’, reports claim that he is finally uniting with director Rajkumar Santoshi after a long gap of nearly two decades.
The Long-Awaited Reunion: ‘Lahore 1947’ Starring the Legendary Actor and Director
Acclaimed Bollywood director Rajkumar Santoshi gave Sunny Deol his biggest break in the Bollywood film ‘Ghayal’. The film did well at the box office, marking a collaboration between the soon-to-be two Titans of the Indian Cinema.
Afterwards, Sunny Deol played an important role in his second blockbuster film, ‘Damini’ in Mr Santoshi’s direction. Clearly, the Bollywood duo enjoyed great chemistry working with each other.
Fall out between the Duo
However, in the late 1990s, their friendship turned sour with both of them not clearly stating the reason for their fall out. But reports suggest that they had creative differences over a film on Indian revolutionary Bhagat Singh.
It is claimed that Sunny wanted to play the lead role in a film based on the life of Bhagat Singh. But director Santoshi was averse to this idea. Later on, Sunny nudged the director to at least cast his brother Bobby Deol in the lead role which was also turned down by Mr Santoshi.

This became the reason for their split and they refrained from collaborating with each other again. On several occasions, reports emerged that both of them are in talks to work together but all of them failed to materialise.
But in an interview, director Rajkumar Santoshi himself stated that all their personal differences have been ironed out. He stated that in his time of need, Sunny Deol helped him a lot. He also ensured cinema lovers that both of them are collaborating again.

He said, “There was estrangement in between on certain points but now there is nothing like that. He loves me very much and is a friend of mine. Currently working on a big budget film with him. Thought of making many films in between but things could not materialise. ‘Jin Lahore Nahi Vekhya‘ is a wonderful subject based on a play. It will be a very big budget film. Sunny Deol liked the topic very much. Soon we will make an official announcement about it. We are making the play ‘Jin Lahore Nahi Vekhya‘ under the name of ‘Lahore 1947’.”
Both of them reuniting is great news for the cinema lovers as in the past they were considered a sure shot guarantee of cinematic success. Now, cinema lovers will again see their beloved action hero, Sunny Deol back in action in the direction of his friend Rajkumar Santoshi in Lahore 1947 movie..
