Pura Mahadev Mandir UP – Guide

A famous temple of Lord Shiva which is situated in western Uttar Pradesh and known as Pura Mahadev Mandir of UP. According to religious beliefs, this temple is considered an ancient Siddha Peeth. Even though this temple may not have gained fame in other regions, but people in western Uttar Pradesh have more faith in this temple. This temple is situated near Baghpat on the banks of the Hindon River, about 40 km from Meerut City.

History of this Mandir

According to ancient history, Renuka, the wife of Maharishi Jamdagni used to abishek the Shivling by taking water from this river daily in a new earthen pot for the consecration of Pura Mahadev Mandir UP. The Shivling here is thousands of years old. It is believed that this Shivling was established by Lord Parshuram. Parshuram did penance at this place to get rid of the sins committed during his lifetime.

No one has any knowledge of the depth of this Shivling till today. It is said that in the 17^th century, the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb unsuccessfully tried to demolish this temple. An attempt was also made to take out this Shivling by an elephant by tying ropes, but after that this Shivling could not be taken out from the root. Once upon a time, Ravana had also worshiped Lord Shiva in the Pura Mahadev temple.

Pura Mahadev Mandir UP opens at 4:00 AM in the morning and close at 7:00 PM in the evening.

Trilok Teerth Dham Baghpat

Trilok Teerth Dham is built in the shape of a Jain symbol. Friends, the height of this temple is 317 feet, in which 100 feet is below the ground and 217 feet above the ground. This temple is dedicated to Parvant.

Gufa wale Baba, Baghpat

This cave is a holy place in the name of Vele Baba Ji also known as Kutti wale Baba.

Valmiki Ashram Baghpat

About 25 km from Meerut city, off the Meerut Road and near the Hindon River in village Baleni is the Valmiki Ashram, where in the Ramayana Lava and Kush sons of Lord Rama were born and brought up.

Kali Singh Baba Temple Baghpat

This temple is situated near Laliyana village on the road from Chamrao to Dhauli Payau. People from nearby cities come here to worship Kali Singh Baba.

By Train- The nearest railway station from Pura Mahadev Mandir UP is Meerut railway station which is at a distance of 40 km from this temple. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services or taxi.

By Road- Roads to this temple are well connected with the other cities of the country so you can easily reach this temple by using your own vehicle or by any public buses or taxi from any part of the country.
