Over the years, these addresses have become a major political event for which political observers remain glued to the screens. However, this year’s speeches were less severe towards the opposition. This time the opposition got away with just a wrap on the knuckle.

PM Modi emphasised the progress in various sectors, including manufacturing, health care, and power, in his speeches in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. He also highlighted the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047.

The Prime Minister also stated that the nation can’t be a propriety of any one dynasty, and instead is constructed through the collective efforts of the people and the passing down of traditions from generation to generation.
In addition to criticising the servile behaviour of the Congress party, Prime Minister Modi emphasised that he has honoured the great figures of India, including visionary freedom fighters such as Subhas Chandra Bose and Major Dhyan Chand, as well as recipients of the Param Veer Award.
Furthermore, PM Modi schooled the opposition on their rhetorical charge of not destroying federal structure. For this, he specifically questioned the knack of previous Congress governments to dismiss elected governments on the ground of Article 356 (President’s rule). He categorically pointed out that it was Ms Gandhi who used the emergency provisions neither once nor twice but for half-a-century (50 times).

Similarly in Lok Sabha, on Rahul’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, PM Modi reminisced his own Yatra to Jammu and Kashmir during the 90s when terrorism was at its peak in the valley. He also lambasted Muftis and Abdullas for their anti-Tiranga remarks made earlier.
PM Modi highlighted how he has badly rattled the opposition by stating ‘Ek Akela Sab per Bhari’. He, however, in his concluding remarks, cautioned the nation against the evil of Freebie and asked state governments to shun this policy and adopt fiscal prudence and judicious use so that future generations don’t have to pay for the debts’ and faulies of current generation politicians.
