Operation Tarkash 2023: While the world is witnessing change in the warfare techniques, it is highly estimated that the future war could be based on biological weapons and minute nukes capable of incurring small regional devastation. India, which is currently making policies based on future requirements is preparing itself for such contingencies.
Operation Tarkash
The National Security Guard (NSG) and US Special Operations Forces (SOF) are currently conducting an exercise named Operation TARKASH in Chennai. This marks the sixth edition of the exercise, which started on January 16th and will conclude on February 14th.
The Operation Tarkash exercise takes place against the backdrop of allegations made by Russia against Ukraine in May 2022, claiming that Ukraine was responsible for a chemical attack in Kharkiv, in an attempt to implicate Russia and obtain military support from the West.
Reportedly, the official said, “The Joint Exercise, for the first time, simulated a validation exercise for Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) terror response mission. During the mock validation exercise, a terrorist organisation armed with chemical agents threatened to attack a convention hall during an international summit. The objective of the joint exercise by NSG and US (SOF) teams was to rapidly neutralise the terrorists, rescue the hostages safely and deactivate the chemical weapons being carried by the terrorists.”
