Next President in US will be a Republican; but he may not be Trump

Ron DeSantis

It doesn’t even feel like a flashback when we remember a group storming Capitol Hill just after the 2020 US Presidential elections. Within 3 years, the race is heating up again. Trump is back at his usual best and Republicans are back to fearing about things going haywire.

Ron DeSantis’ candidature

It is sufficient to conclude that between the 2020 and 2024 election cycle, except Ron DeSantis, no one else has been able to capture the thirst of Trump’s enigma among the American public. The man is slaying left, right and centre. He took on corporate media, brought the all-powerful Disney to the knee, kept Florida largely free and prosperous during the Covid mayhem and last but not the least declared that ‘Florida is where the woke goes to die.’

On key issues like gun control, abortion, and de-funding the police illegal immigration, he has been quite vocal. He stands in opposition to all of them. In fact, he had trolled pro-immigration rich and entitled Americans by making them face the consequences of their own advocacy in Martha Vineyard.

Ron DeSantis = Trump-ad hominem attacks

The only thing Ron DeSantis lacks for a vocal American Population is no holds barred approach which Trump possesses. Even when Trump made an ad-hominem attack on Ron DeSantis, he refused to push back against his colleague. Rest assured that a person who has spent all his life in a militarised disciplined environment would not go bonkers like Trump.

Also, there are not many political reasons to do so. No one has ever been successful against Trump in this domain. In the last Presidential cycle, he went berserk against people like Jeb Bush, Ted Cruz, Mike Pence and not to mention his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton. Trump came out victorious in all those battles.

Most of these candidates have not been able to occupy the space vacated by Trump in the last 4 years. There is a reason why leaders from foreign countries and left leaning News Websites fear more about Tucker Carlson, a news host, than Conservatives in the Republican party.

Will Nikki Haley succeed?

Given all these factors, it is highly unlikely that someone else from Republicans’ rank is likely to rise up to the occasion. Sure, Nikki Haley is one of them and has just launched a formal campaign for 2024. She can bet on people vouching for non-combatant candidates and failures of the Biden administration.

Among both of them, it is the Biden administration’s failures which give her more hope. She will be an able woman candidate in case Democrats decide to push Kamala Harris for the women card. She has a plethora of Biden-Harris’ failures to tell the public, economy and failed vaccines being few of them.

It is yet to be seen how she counters Trump and Ron DeSantis. Both can turn the table anytime, especially Trump.
