Mankameshwar Mandir Agra is a well known religious place of Hindus, which is completely dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that in Dwapar Yuga the Shivling here was established by Lord Shiva himself. This temple is located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, Agra, India. The Shivling in this temple is covered with a layer of silver. If a devotee wants to go to this temple Shivling, then it is necessary to be in Indian costumes.

History of this Temple

According to vedic scriptures, Lord Shiva spent a night here and meditated when Lord Shiva was visiting Mathura after the birth of Lord Krishna to see his child-form. He had vowed that if he could feed Kanha in his lap, then Lord Shiva would remain seated in the Shivling at this place.

When Lord Shiva went to Kanha’s house to see him, Yashoda Maiya was scared to see his ashes and cooted form, then Yashoda Maiya thought that Kanha would be scared to see Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva sat under a banyan tree and meditating there. Then Lord Shri Krishna started pointing towards Shiva while crying. Then Yashoda Mai called Shiva, gave Kanha in his lap and then Krishna stopped crying. Since then the Lord is seated in the form of Shivling in this temple.
