There is a very ancient temple of Shiva-Parvati near the Gomti river flowing in the heart of Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. The name of this temple is Mankameshwar Temple. This temple is very ancient, it has mythological recognition. The Mankameshwar Mahadev Mandir Lucknow, included in the ancient pagodas, is situated on the banks of the Gomti in Lucknow. The floor of this temple is studded with silver coins and the temple has a sanctum sanctorum where Bholenath is seated. Every wish sought from the mind is fulfilled in this temple.

History of this Temple

The history of this Lucknow Mankameshwar Mahadev Mandir of Lord Shiva dates back to the Ramayana period. It is told that when Lakshman was going back to Ayodhya after leaving mother Sita in exile, his mind was very sad and distracted.

With a sad heart, he rested overnight on the banks of Lakshman Gomti and worshiped Lord Shiva there in the morning, after which his mind found immense peace. It is said that only after this the Shiva temple was built here. There is a belief about the temple that every wish asked from the heart is fulfilled here. This is the reason why this temple was named Mankameshwar.
