Feminism is way too predictable, Prithvi Shaw being the latest ‘victim’

Prithvi Shaw case

Prithvi Shaw case: It was in the midst of 2010s that Indians got acutely aware of the word Feminism. 6-7 years down the line, nobody likes it except a few elites who use it to arm twist legal mechanisms. What just happened to cricketer Prithvi Shaw is a stark reminder of the draconian ideology.

Fresh FIR in Prithvi Shaw case

Just after getting her bail, Bhojpuri Actress Sapna Gill has lodged a complaint against cricketer Prithvi Shaw. She has accused Prithwi of outraging modesty and causing hurt to her under Section 354, 509 and 323 of the Indian Penal Code. At the time of writing, Police are yet to turn the complaint into an FIR.

Possibly, because they are aware of the full picture. According to Police, Sapna Gill and her friends had approached Prithwi for a selfie. After a few clicks, Prithwi chose his own comfort and tried to go ahead with his schedule. Sapna and Co. were not convinced and waited for a revenge opportunity outside the Hotel. After Prithwi came out of the hotel, Gill, Shobhit Thakur and six other friends chased Prithwi’s car. They also had a baseball bat and broke Prithwi’s windscreen with it.

Police’s description of the event has been confirmed by Shobhit Thakur, the teenager who was with Sapna, as well.

Prithvi Shaw case: Web of lies and security of average women

Despite that, Sapna decided to go ahead with her complaint. That is some mockery of truth. But, more than that, it is a mockery of poor, hapless and helpless women. In the aftermath of grotesque Nirbhaya Gang Rape case, the legal system has become extra sensitive towards complaints of violence related to women.

While the ground reality for average women has not changed much, the economic disparity between different women has led to privileged few taking disadvantage of the situation. You might remember Sarabjit Singh, the guy mauled by the media and society for allegedly molesting a girl. Turns out, his accuser didn’t even turn out for court hearing and Singh’s acquittal took 5 years.

Numerous such examples are in the public domain where women have been treating themselves as a legally immune category. Whether it is a Lucknow girl slapping a boy on the road or a female influencer playing Victim card against Zomato. In the back of their mind, they know that the Police can’t do anything against her.

If things don’t change in upcoming decades, the distrust of women will only grow further. Entitled will always remain entitled, but it is the poor women who will bear the brunt of their crazy harpy sisters.
