History of Wargal Temple

This temple is relatively recent, having been built in the late 20th century. The inspiration to make it came from a great devotee of Goddess Saraswati, Shri Yamvaram Chandrasekhar Sharma. Along with being a scholar, astrologer, Vastu expert and businessman, he was a multifaceted personality. It was under his guidance that a committee known as the Satya Patam Seva Samiti started the process of building this temple.

After a thorough search, he identified the hill of Wargal, which already had some temples including the four-century-old Shambhu Deva Temple, as the most suitable site for this temple. With less than Rs.3000/- in their hands, the committee performed Bhoomi Pujan and laid the foundation stone on Vasant Panchami day in the year 1989. In the year 1992, Sri Vidya Narasimha Bharati Swami laid the foundation to install the holy idols of Goddess Sri Vidya Saraswati and Lord Shani Dev in the temple, and the temple was completed and opened for worship in the year 1998.
