PM Modi message: Suppose the elections are nearing or have been announced and the voters go out to the polling booth to cast votes. So, what would be the next step? Bringing down the entire polling booth or making the person/party win who is better than the others. Well, democracy is all about making the good candidate win and the bad one lose. It is not about destroying every party and every leader, at least in the ideal world. Otherwise, democracy would die a slow death. The same has been signalled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the recent executive meeting.

PM Modi- stern message on films

PM Narendra Modi, during the BJP national executive meeting held on January 16 and 17 in Delhi, passed a message on films and the entire boycott Bollywood trend. As per reports, the Prime Minister has asked the party leaders as well as the karyakartas to refrain from making “unnecessary statements” about films and personalities to grab attention. PM in his statement said, “No one should make unnecessary comments that would overshadow the hard work we do.”

The cautioning from the PM has clearly come for the leaders getting involved in unnecessary controversies as the statements gather all the attention of the media. The Prime Minister highlighted that these statements are played on TV (by mainstream media) all day. This leads to important developmental work done by the government getting zero to little coverage. Thus, the party’s developmental agenda is put on the backburner. PM Modi’s statement clearly points out that the leaders should work for the interests of the people instead of commenting about films.

PM’s statement comes amid the Pathaan controversy

In the past few years, several films and shows have faced controversies, alleging that they have hurt the sentiments and culture of the Hindu community. The mercury has severely gone up with Shahrukh Khan’s upcoming movie Pathaan. Madhya Pradesh Deputy CM Narottam Mishra had claimed to block the release if certain scenes of the film were not ‘rectified’.

The controversy was over Deepika Padukone’s saffron bikini in Pathaan’s song ‘Besharam Rang’. The minister had said that some scenes ‘were highly objectionable’ and have been shot with a dirty mindset. BJP leaders like Sadhvi Pragya and Ram Kadam had also criticised the film.

The Boycott Bollywood trend and politics

It has been a norm around the world for the political class or the people in power to ban films as they cannot handle the truth. In this situation, the filmmakers or the artists have fought back with people’s support. This is what the left liberal cabal tried to paint the boycott Bollywood trend. However, unlike the West, the trend was initiated by the people themselves.

The common people, who are being served utter nonsense by the urdufied Bollywood, decided to give it back to the Bollywood biggies in the language they understand. This time the audience had turned their backs. The boycott was started by the people after being served utterly Hinduphobic content, nepotism and propaganda-ridden films with high female objectification. The unfortunate and untimely death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput also added to the cause.

The message of TFI Founder

The TFI Founder Atul Mishra, earlier in 2022, had put forth how and why we need to save the Hindi film industry and gunning down the entire industry is not the solution. The boycott trend, however, tends to bulldoze everything in the path. This also kills careers and livelihoods of many. Many who don’t even deserve that. Atul Mishra had pointed out how the proverb, ‘Gehun ke sath Ghun bhi pis jata hai’ fits well in the situation.

The boycott trend, if done mindlessly would end up destroying the Hindi Film industry and surely none of us want that. As being rebel without any cause is of no use.
