Harsiddhi Mata Temple, Ujjain – Overview

Harsiddhi Mata Temple is situated at a distance of 350 meters from the famous Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain. Harsiddhi Mata Temple is among one of the 51 major Shaktipeeths of India. The Harsiddhi temple was built during the Maratha period. In which between the idols of Mahasaraswati and Mahalakshmi, the idol of Annapurna, the main goddess of the temple, is installed in dark red colour.

This temple opens at 6:00 am in the morning and close at 6:00 pm in the evening.

History of this Temple

Harsiddhi Mata Temple site of King Vikramaditya’s family goddess Harsiddhi Mata was the Tapobhoomi of Emperor Vikramaditya. About 48 km from Porbandar in Gujarat, near Mool Dwarka is Miyan village on the banks of the sea bay. Where on the other side of the gulf is the temple of Harsiddhi Mata under the steps of the mountain. It is believed that Harsiddhi Mata was brought by Emperor Vikramaditya to Ujjain.

When king Vikramaditya asked Harsiddhi Mata to go to Ujjain, Goddess Harsiddhi Mata told Vikramaditya. That I will stay in your city at night, but will stay in this place during the day. That’s why it is believed that the mother resides in Gujarat during the day and Ujjain city of Madhya Pradesh at night. Harsiddhi Mata is also the Kuldevi of the kings of Parmar dynasty.

There are 4 entrances inside the campus of the Harsiddhi temple. The main gate of the temple faces east. There is a stepwell in the south-east corner near the bungalow, inside which is a pillar. Here there is a place made of Shree Yantra. There is a beautiful statue of Bhagwati Annapurna behind this place.

Near the east gate of the temple is the Saptsagar pond which is also known as Rudrasagar. This beautiful temple is built on the picturesque banks of the Rudrasagar pond surrounded by strong stone walls.

Shri Ram Ghat

This Ghat is only 0.22 km from Harsiddhi Mata Mandir. The Shri Ram Mandir Ghat is considered to be one of the oldest bathing ghats in India and holds relevance with the Kumbh Mela celebrations. It is of great importance to Hindus as it is one of the four places where the Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years.

Shree Bade Ganesh Mandir

Bade Ganeshji Ka Mandir is a grand temple in Ujjain which houses one of the largest idols of Lord Ganesha. This temple is located at 0.27 km from Harsiddhi Mata Mandir. Rest on the banks of Mahakaleshwar reservoir. The five faced image of Lord Hanuman is adorned in the center of the temple gate. It is a good place to visit in Ujjain.

Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga

Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and one of the twelve Jyotirlinga, located in the ancient city of Ujjain on the banks of the holy river Shipra. This temple is 0.40 km from Harsiddhi Mata Mandir. The presiding deity, Lord Shiva is believed to be self-manifested in the Linga form. This place is very beautiful with completely different and unmatched peace of mind and creation.

By Air- The nearest airport from this temple is Maharani Ahilya Bai Holkar Airport of Indore. Which is situated at a distance of 56 km from Ujjain. From here you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services.

By Train- Ujjain city mainly has three major railway stations which include Ujjain City Junction, Vikram Nagar and Chintaman railway station. From here also you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services.

By Road- The nearest bus stop from this temple in Ujjain are Dewas Gate and Nanakheda. Regular bus service is available from major cities of MP to Ujjain. If You can travel to Harsiddhi Shaktipeeth Ujjain by private vehicle then you can easily reach this temple as it’s roads are well connected with the different cities.
