Anurag Kashyap remarks on SSR: India and its tryst with cinema has been a long-long affair. Especially in the Hindi belt, the cinema achieved a boom, not anticipated by many. With the rise of Khans and filmmakers like Johars and Kapoors, the Hindi Film industry, commonly referred to as Bollywood scripted commercial history. None could match the stardom of filmstars, nor the business of the films. Quality of cinema was compromised and sub-standard ‘Urduwood’ gained all the attraction.
But the ever rocking Bollywood industry has been reeling under severe pressure and is amidst a battle, Battle for Survival. And survival brings out all the colours. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap and Shahrukh Khan’s comments on SSR’s death and India’s inclusivity speaks volume about the same.
Shahrukh Khan talks about India’s inclusivity
Shahrukh Khan’s Pathaan has been probably doing well at the Box-office, atleast this is what the media believes for now. Is it a scam, this only time can tell. But more than Pathaan’s commercial success, the left-liberal lobby has been presenting it as ‘a win of love over hate’. Even prominent media handles have carried articles with similar notions. Now, Shahrukh Khan has himself sided away from the love-hate debate and is talking about India’s inclusivity.
Shahrukh Khan at a press conference said, “Deepika’s Amar, I am Akbar and JOhn is Anthony. And this is what makes cinema. There are no differences that any of us have for anybody, for any culture or in any aspect of life.”
Talking about inclusivity, Khan highlighted that he has received so much love from the inclusive India, and this is what matters to him.

In a recent interview, Anurag Kashyap spoke in context with the unfortunate demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Kashyap said that he regrets ignoring Sushant Singh Rajput’s request to collaborate. He said, “And the day the unfortunate incident happened of SSR, I felt so bad. Three weeks prior to that somebody was trying to reach out because he wanted to talk, and I was like, ‘No, he ghosted me, I don’t want to talk’. You get pangs of guilt.”
Well, the statements come at the correct time, when Anurag Kashyap is promoting his upcoming release, ‘Almost Pyar with DJ Mohabaat’.
The Boycott Bollywood Trend- Anger of disgruntled Hindus
Bollywood has been long- manufacturing anti-Hindu and anti-national content shamelessly. There opens a pandora box on the issue that TFI has long been talking about. Bollywood rampantly used propaganda to paint Hindus in the bad light and blatantly manufactured anti-national content, somewhere a Pandit was shown as rapist, and somewhere else, Pakistani intelligence officer was shown empathetic. The disgruntled Hindus brought down the Bollywood empire with the Boycott Bollywood trend, simply a people’s movement which has forced even the likes of Anurag Kashyap and Khan to speak about India in order to rinse their image in the nationalistic circles.

The changing dynamics of Cinema in India
Once upon a time in the history of independent India, the Khans ruled over the hearts of millions of Indians. There does not exist a single person who has once in a while not admired at least one of the Khan trio. The trio, along with their set of producers and directors ruled not only over Indians but also the Hindi Film Industry. The nepotism was at an all time high and there was no check on the content, as fan following was enough to draw the cinema goers to the theatres. With time, the audiences have evolved.
In today’s time, content matters a lot more than stardom. As a consequence of this shift, the once invincible fortress of Bollywood has been razed to dust. The enormous success of films like The Kashmir Files, Uri, Karthikeya 2 and Rocketry stand in deposition for the same. This paradigm shift has forced the Bollywood bigwigs on their knees and Anurag Kashyap has just proved the same.
