Yaganti Uma Maheswara Temple
Yaganti Uma Maheswara Temple located in Kurnool district of Andhra Pradesh is one of the historical heritages of our country. As amazing as this temple is, it contains as many secrets in itself. The statue of Nandi Maharaj present in this temple is mysteriously becoming giant, due to which this Yaganti Uma Maheshwar temple is in the limelight. There is such a belief about Nandi that a day will come when Nandi Maharaj will be alive, as soon as he is alive there will be a catastrophe in this world and this Kaliyuga will end.
Yaganti Temple History
Yaganti Uma Maheswara Temple was built in the 15th century. King Harihara Bukka of the Sangama dynasty built this temple. It is said that sage Agastya wanted to build a temple of Lord Venkateswara at this place, but the toe nail of the idol broke while installing the idol in the temple. To know the reason for this incident, Agastya did penance to Lord Shiva. After that, with the blessings of Lord Shiva, sage Agastya established Uma Maheshwar and Nandi.

Statue grows 1 inch in 20 years
The size of the Nandi idol installed in this Yaganti Uma Maheshwar temple increases by about an inch every 20 years. To uncover this mystery, research was also done by the Archaeological Department. According to this research, it was being said that the nature of the stone which was used to make this idol is going to increase. Because of this the size of the idol is increasing.

Devotees are not able to circumambulate-
It is said that earlier the devotees coming to this Yaganti Uma Maheshwar temple could easily circumambulate the Nandi, but due to the ever-increasing size, it is no longer possible to circumambulate here. Seeing the huge Nandi, the temple administration has also removed a pillar from there.
Pushkarini’s secret
There is a small pond in this Yaganti Uma Maheshwar temple complex, which is called Pushkarini. In this Pushkarini, water keeps falling continuously from Nandi’s mouth. Even after lakhs of attempts, no one has been able to find out till date how the water comes in Pushkarini. It is believed that sage Agastya worshiped Lord Shiva only after taking a bath in Pushkarini.

By Road- Kurnool is connected to many major cities of South India by road. Kurnool is situated on National Highways 40, 44 and 340C, providing good transport facilities to cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Srisailam and Chittoor.
By Air- The distance from Sri Yaganti Uma Maheshwar Temple to Kurnool airport is about 84 km. The nearest airport to the temple is Narasimha Reddy Airport in Kurnool, about 63 kilometers (km) from the temple.
By Train- Kurnool railway station is located on the Bangalore-Hyderabad rail line. Kurnool City Railway Station is an A-Category station, well connected to major cities of South India. The distance from Shri Yaganti Uma Maheswara Temple to Kurnool station is approximately 85 km.
Why Crows run away from the Yaganti Uma Maheswara Temple?
Crows never enter the temple premises. It is believed that Sage Agastya had cursed the crows for disturbing the time of penance that crows would never be able to enter the temple premises again.
