History of this Temple

According to history, there was a demon named Tadkasur, who did severe penance to Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva was pleased with Tadkasur’s penance and asked to ask for a boon from Tadkasur. As a boon, Tadkasur asked for the boon of immortality but Lord Shiva did not give the boon of immortality and said that it is against nature, ask for some other boon. Then Tadkasur, seeing the disinterested form of Lord Shiva, said that if I die, it should be only through your son.

Lord Shiva said that in Kalyug people will worship me in your name. That’s why this place was named “Tadkeshwar Mahadev”. Shivling was present in Tadkeshwar Mahadev temple many ages ago, but now there is an idol of Lord Shiva which is worshipped. The idol of Lord Shiva is at the same place where the Shivling was present.
