Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is a campaign to make India clean, which was launched by the Prime Minister of India on the occasion of 145th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. The goal of this campaign was to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of ‘Clean India’. In this, many types of efforts were made to make India clean. Objective of Abhiyan

Its main target is to bring India in the list of a clean country. In this, open defecation has to be ended in the villages. Today, there is filth everywhere in every street corner of India.

People also throw the garbage of their homes on the roads, due to which there is dirt and filth and as a result, many types of diseases also occur due to this. To overcome these problems, the Swachh Bharat Yojana was brought by the Government of India.

When and how did the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan start

On 2 October 2014, the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the Prime Minister of India launched this scheme to make India a clean country. This campaign was also called ‘Bharat Mission’ and ‘Swachhata Abhiyan’. The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, addressed a huge gathering at Rajpath and appealed to the people to make this campaign a success by joining them as much as possible. After which a large number of people participated in this campaign and along with the Prime Minister contributed to make this scheme a success.

Under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, more than 1 crore toilets were constructed in the urban areas of India and 11 crore 11 lakh toilets were constructed to prevent open defecation in the villages. Apart from this, toilets were also constructed in public places, so that the villages could be made clean. To solve the problem of garbage in urban areas, garbage vans were installed, so that the problem of garbage could be removed from place to place.

Facilities are being continuously made available for cleanliness in the villages as well. Under this, people have also been made aware of cleanliness. In which people have to stop open defecation and stop throwing garbage anywhere. With this campaign, today the dream of a clean India has been fulfilled to some extent.
