Kaleshwaram Temple- Overview

Kaleswara Mukteshwara Swami Temple is situated in the town of Kaleshwaram on the border of Telangana and Maharashtra. It is one of the Trilinga Desam or three important temples of Lord Shiva. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva.

The presence of two lingas on the same pedestal is an architectural marvel and most iconic. Since Lord Shiva is worshiped as Mukteshwar, and Lord Yama is worshiped as Kaleshwar, and hence the name Kaleshwaram Mukteshwar Swami Temple.

History of this Temple

Historians says that a long time ago, a Vaishya, (a person who comes from the community that takes care of cattle) consecrated Lord Kaleshwar Mukteshwar with hundreds of milk pots, and the milk developed at Sangamam, the Sangam. Happened. Of Godavari and Pranahita. Since then the temple is known to all the people of Andhra Pradesh.

Kaleshwaram Temple is built in the Dravidian style of architecture. It has many intricately carved pillars and halls, which are used for organizing festivals, and other social events such as marriages, concerts, and pujas.

The temple is known for the hole in the Mukteshwar Linga and is believed to never be filled with water, which remains a mystery. However, many attribute the connection between the Shiva Linga and the Godavari River. The fish sculpture is iconic and attracts a lot of attention.

Kaleshwaram Temple Timings

Kaleshwaram Temple opens around 7 am and closes for the morning session at 1 pm. Again, it opens at 2:30 pm and closes around 8:30 pm.

How to reach this Temple

By Air- The nearest airport is the Hyderabad International Airport, which is located at the distance of 250 km from Kaleshwaram Temple. From here you can take any taxi or cab to reach the temple comfortably.

By Train- The nearest railway station is Ramagundam Railway Station, which is located at the distance of 60 km from the temple. From here also you can easily reach this temple by using local transport services.

By Road- Many buses runs from here as it is connect to Kaleshwaram city. Private cabs, autos and buses are also available in abundance.
