Caste-based census: Just like marathon runners, the Chief minister of Bihar is phasing out his run for Delhi. His aspirations for the Prime Minister position are not new. And he is trying his best to take all possible political measures to make it go his way.
Despite his growing unpopularity, Nitesh Kumar continues to strive for political power. He is determined to make it as Prime Minister, no matter what the consequences may it be. His ambition is unwavering and he is willing to take any risks to achieve his goal but Alas! he is like a drowning man in the ocean, clinging to any hope of salvation.

It appears that the opposition has found a major issue to rally around, with almost all opposition political parties in India agreeing that the next census should include a column dedicated to caste, and it became something to give our thought upon as government at centre has rejected it and said they are not planning to introduce any caste-based census.
Instead of considering the potential consequences, the political parties are primarily driven by their desire to increase their voter base.
Opposition parties are attempting to dent the BJP’s pre-2014 election politics by calling for a nation-wide caste census. In 2014, the BJP gained 34% of the OBC vote whereas regional parties received 43%. Since then, the BJP has worked to unite the OBCs under a Hindu identity, increasing their vote share to 44% in 2019. This has caused a drop in the collective OBC vote for regional parties, which fell to 27%.
By doing so, they hope to counter the BJP’s appeal among the OBCs and diminish their political power before the 2024 general elections and for this tiny hope Nitish Kumar is about to burn the 500 cr of taxpayer’s money.

Nitish Kumar : The astute and failed chief minister
Nitish embarked on a political journey with the assistance of Lalu. After coming to the realisation that he had become a viable alternative to him, he made the decision to go his own way. Along with his long-standing tenure as Chief Minister of Bihar and his dependability as a trusted leader for the Yadav political group, Nitish Kumar was not selected as the Prime Ministerial candidate of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in 2013. Nonetheless, Nitish’s approach and actions had been highly predictable.
He was never accepted even by opposition and his previous political actions were the major reason behind it. Politician across party line have a bad image about him and even term him as paltu man who can change at any moment by backstabbing his own party alliances. Now, after he strategically positioned himself as a viable alternative to the oppositions by decisively cutting the ties with the BJP and demonstrating his willingness to collaborate with a range of other political entities his political graph has fallen in more bad but this enabled him to gain credibility and recognition, paving the way for a more prominent role on the national stage. So now he is doing everything to please the national opposition parties.
He recently parted ways with the BJP and joined forces with the RJD, and his confrontations with the latter have become the stuff of legend. Internal strife within his party is not uncommon. People of Bihar are familiar with the impressive feats of the current Chief Minister, who has managed to secure the position numerous times, even with a lower number of seats.
Despite not being able to handle the state he is willing to control the nation. Recently union minister Giriraj singh accused him for useless and miserable policies and said “He is being shown black flags at public meetings for the failed prohibition policy and poor law and order. Spurious liquor continues to claim lives in the state. Still, the CM boasts of his works and keeps recounting his government’s successes,” The Chapra Hooch Tragedy and the heartless statements of the chief minister are still a painful memory that lingers in our minds.

Nitish has cultivated a reputation of ‘development-oriented leader’ focused on progress and growth. He has been advocating for a vision of development for Bihar. Despite his efforts, tangible evidence of advancement has yet to be seen.
After failing to provide any substantial evidence of progress in the state, the JDU led government is now seeking to divide the people on the basis of caste.
