Rahul Gandhi shamefully pits Maharashtra against Gujarat

Rahul Gandhi Nanded

Rahul Gandhi Nanded speech: We have seen how the independence of India has been celebrated and the entire struggle has been credited to JL Nehru and MK Gandhi. This was not a phenomenon witnessed just during the post independence years. Rather, a movie as recent as ‘Lage Raho Munna Bhai’ brought back Gandhi into mainstream cinema and recalled the post-independence years.

There are several scars related to independence like that of partition. Also, what happened during the transfer of power is that it just got relocated from Gora babus to Bhura babus. The ones who inherited power from the British, inherited their tactics too, including divide and rule.

Congress inherited British Raj’s policy

We have heard a lot about ‘Divide and Rule’, a policy used to maintain imperial rule over the Indian subcontinent. The British colonialists implied this to strengthen the hold of British Raj in India. The communal conflict and Muslim separatism are seen as being created under the same strategy. The British also introduced the rigid caste system. The Congress, leave aside challenging and preventing the nourishment to communalism, rather inherited it along with high chairs of power.

The truth is that the Congress party continued with the British paradigm of divide and rule. It’s already been 70 plus years since independence and till today, the scion of a dynasty is taking the shots.

How power hungry Congress divided India

It was in February this year when Prime Minister Narendra Modi openly criticised the Congress party within the parliament of India for using divide and rule tactics to come to power. He accused the grand old party of being the leader of the ‘tukde tukde gang’.

The Prime Minister’s claims were not hollow. The Congress is guilty of not only dividing a great civilisation but also trying to balkanise it for its own gains, by bringing caste and religion minorities under its fold. Congress’ partner Farooq Abdullah is guilty of the pain endured by thousands of Kashmiri Pandits. And what Congress did in Punjab is known to all.

Congress has extensively divided voters along caste lines since independence to maintain itself at the helm of affairs. It was Congress that first struck down the ‘separate religion’ tag for Lingayats in 2013 and then passed a bill in the Karnataka state assembly to make Lingayats a separate religion in 2018. The minority appeasement of Congress is a case study for researchers.

Rahul Gandhi seems to be following the old rule book

Karnataka CM Bommai had accused Congress, currently busy with much hyped Bharat Jodo Yatra, of being a party practising divide and rule policy. Rahul Gandhi seems to have inherited the same mechanism from the party and that is visible from his speeches too. He has taken a step forward and is now creating regional divide. Rahul Gandhi gave his address in the Nanded district of Maharashtra where he, in an attempt to target the Gujarat government, created a divide between the two states.

The Gandhi scion alleged that projects such as the Tata-Airbus military aircraft partnership and the Vedanta-Foxconn semiconductor plant were stolen from Maharashtra and handed to Gujarat ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. Gandhi further went on to criticise the Centre, saying that apart from money, employment and the future of the state’s youth were also being stolen away. Actually here, In his speech in the Nanded Rahul Gandhi was telling the youth of one state that the central government is snatching their opportunities to give it to other states. This is the application of the divide and rule policy at the utmost level.

What Rahul Gandhi should do is stop the rebellion leaders from ditching his party rather than creating a divide between the states following his party’s old rule book.
