First deserve, then desire. The West has always desired to control the world according to its will. It expects other countries to follow its instructions without fail. But India showed it the mirror and said that ‘if you want us to think about your interest then your need to earn it.’
Indian policy makers of today are crystal clear about India’s national interests. As EAM Jaishankar retorted, “Europe has to grow out of the mindset that Europe’s problems are the world’s problems but the world’s problems are not Europe’s problems.” This statement shows the amount of confidence India holds in its ability. The arrogance of the west is not hidden from anyone and India is telling them to think about the other’s interest as well.
India did it again on Friday, when US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen was in Delhi.
US wants India on its side
The West has been pressuring India since last few months on the purchase of Russian oil. But on Friday, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, who visited New Delhi and held talks with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to deepen US-India economic ties, said that “Russian oil is going to be selling at bargain prices and we’re happy to have India get that bargain.”
She also added that “India can continue to buy as much Russian oil as it wants, including at rates above a G7-imposed price cap mechanism as long as it avoids Western insurance, finance, and maritime services bound by the cap.”
India was also removed from the Currency monitoring list by the US Treasury Dept. India was in the list since last two years.

How was India able to pull this move?
India’s current global position is much better and respectful than ever before. The nation is strong enough to counter China and the West in their own language. This new India always keeps its interest at the top.
Under the strong leadership of PM Narendra Modi, India has grown to greater heights. The market size of India is second to none with 1.4 billion people. Adding to it is the important geographical location of India that the world knows very well.
Russia recently surpassed India’s traditional crude sellers Saudi Arabia and Iraq to become its top oil supplier even after multiple sanctions.
Everyone is wondering how India was able to pull this move even after so much pressure from the west. That is the power India currently holds in the latest global scenario. Diplomatic power plays the main role in these types of situations and Indian think tanks are the masters of it.

Bright future ahead
At one point of time India’s neighbour in the east was more economically powerful. But, thankfully the scenario has reversed for good and to talk about soft or diplomatic power it does not stand on the farthest end.
On the other side, the western world has economic power as well as soft powers like Hollywood and wokeism to name a few. But other countries are losing faith in the US. This trust was shaken even more after the Afghanistan and China-Taiwan tension. Even Japan is building up its own defences. The reason is clear. Japan does not blindly trust the US anymore.
In this global chaos, if India is capable enough to do things on its own terms, then it means the country is moving in the right direction. So, the coming years are going to be very crucial for India.
