He was a lively person who knew the power of laughter. He loved to make people laugh and could crack jokes at the drop of a hat. But what most people don’t know is that behind the profound laughter there was a deep sense of sadness and grief. He was wrongfully demonised and maligned by certain elites and media persons for a few bad incidents or events which were out of human control. This smear campaign against him has not ended even to date.

Grief on the personal front

Acclaimed composer Khemchand Prakash scripted history with the movie ‘Ziddi’. It catapulted the careers of two debutants Dev Anand and Kishore Kumar. Additionally, the movie also catalysed the career of Swar Kokila Lata Mangeshkar. After that, the Cinematic career of Kishore Da grew by leaps and bounds.

However, things were pretty different on the personal front. His marriage with Bengali singer and actress Ruma Guha Thakurta aka Ruma Ghosh didn’t end well. The separation had a deep impact on him and he was grief-stricken for a long time. To make things worse, certain elites and media persons insanely blamed him for the same even when the separation was a mutual decision.

In the meantime, a mutual affection was developing in the Hindi Film Industry. Tragedy king Dilip Kumar and eternal beauty Madhubala developed a liking for each other. Their mutual friend, Kishore Da played a crucial role in their love affair and things were going on the right track till personal and family differences started to weaken the relationship.

Biography: The Madhubala and Kishore Kumar story

After the traumatised relationship and agonising breakup with Dilip Kumar, Madhubala went into a state of shock and depression. When time couldn’t heal her mental and emotional wounds, Kishore Da provided emotional support and pulled her out of depression. However, by that time, Madhubala came to know about her heart ailment and that she was living a borrowed life.

She was afraid to be alone again, especially in her degrading health condition and developed an affection for Kishore Da. Even after knowing her health condition, Kishore Kumar agreed to marry her at her request. Reportedly, Madhubala’s health condition worsened to such an extent that any emotional trigger could be life-threatening to her.

On the doctor’s recommendations, Kishore Da relocated to a quieter place which was necessitated because of Madhubala’s heart ailment. Later, Kishore da agreed to Madhubala’s request and relocated her to her father’s home. But, BUT… then the media and those same elites jumped in again. They launched the worst possible smear campaign against Kishore da. They maligned him with traumatising allegations and accused him of leaving his wife. The truth was he would leave his work to regularly visit Madhubala and support her in all manner possible.

Well, it was an interfaith marriage and it was inevitable that bigoted Islamists will add to the hate campaign and vitiate the atmosphere. Indeed, they did and even after all the goodness of Kishore Kumar, he was character assassinated and presented as the villain in Madhubala’s life. The elites, media persons and Islamists spewed venom against the pious and soulful love.
