Can development be made to be more marketable than Dole? Can Indian voters, fed on patronage for several decades, be more interested in empowerment? Can development bring in more votes than caste? Can aspiration be a bigger draw than entitlement? Well, the ‘Gujarat Model’ highlights these shifts in the electoral narrative. The narrative war is up again, the Gujarat assembly elections are due next month. And tell me who is competing? It’s Arvind Kejriwal’s much publicised Delhi Model challenging the established Gujarat Model of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Kejriwal and much hyped Education Model
The Aam Aadmi Party that rose to power in Delhi has been expanding its footprints in the neighbouring states. The campaign plank rests on limited issues which are healthcare, education and power subsidy. The most publicised amongst them is EDUCATION, often dubbed as Delhi’s Education Model. The roads of Delhi NCR region are filled with billboards containing ads about the world class education model of Arvind Kejriwal.
Although the left liberal ecosystem including the Western media have invested a lot in narrating the success story of the Kejriwal government in “transforming the education system”. After NCPCR flagged shortcomings in the education sector, the survey is out to give sleepless nights to Kejriwal, currently busy campaigning in Gujarat.

Gujarat overtakes Delhi
The performance grading index of the department of school education, Government of India released on Thursday has brought down the Kejriwal’s Delhi Model. In the index designed to assess school education at the district level, Gujarat has overtaken Delhi. Gujarat has secured 5th rank with a score of 903, improving from 884 in previous year. In the index, Gujarat is among the top five whereas Delhi rested at 8th position with a score of just 899.
And don’t fall for the left’s propaganda about the credibility of the index. The same index assesses the development each year and uses a uniform scale for all the states and union territories. It involves assessment on five parameters which are learning outcomes, access, infrastructure and facility, equality and governance process. The index is sufficient to answer which state has a better education system and facilities, a question Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has been putting up in his election rallies.
This is not the first time that the fortress of lies built around Kejriwal’s Delhi Model has been demolished. It was revealed how education in private schools have become dearer while the government schools lack the basic manpower. The DUTA (Delhi University Teachers’ Association) strikes have been a constant phenomenon for the last 5 years.
Kejriwal education Model is a failure
Arvind Kejriwal is on a spree of expansion and for this he is selling his USP that is freebies. He wants to expand to nine states and politically dynamic ones. Kejriwal and party have put in all their effort and funds to campaign in Gujarat. However, what they have to offer can be a question. Why do I say this? Because, the model Arvind Kejriwal is selling is the infamous Delhi Model that simply means freebies. Despite freebies, Delhi can have revenue surplus as it has huge tax resources, further, most of its bills are paid by the central government like pension liabilities and the policing cost.
The same model cannot be replicated in other states and they have to pay their bills on their own and shoving Delhi model, that is non-merit subsidies will simply lead the states towards bankruptcy.
