Congress loses election but wins crores of rupees – The whole scheme explained

If Corruption is an art, then Congress is definitely a Picaso in it. Does that ring any bells about some famous painting?

This MF Hussain painting was gifted to the Congress party. Later, this Congress property was sold to Yes Bank CEO Rana Kapoor for Rs 2 crore.

The Congress has been out of power for a good eight-and-a-half years but its saga of Corruption and misdeeds are endless. All the top leaders of the party are out on bail in serious cases of corruption. But as they say, old habits die hard. Cash for Congress candidacy

The Karnataka assembly elections are round the corner. For this, Congress has announced the process for its ticket distribution. It has asked all aspirants seeking tickets from Congress party to submit the application fee. In addition to that, it has ordered them to submit a demand draft (DD) of Rs 2 lakh to become a candidate from Congress party.

The KPCC President DK Shivakumar stated that the aspirants, including him, will have to deposit a Demand Draft (DD) of Rs two lakh while applying for tickets for the next year’s Assembly elections in the state.

The Congress state President also added that the applications should be filed between 5 to 15 November. He informed the media that the application charge will cost Rs 5,000. Candidates from SC/ST communities will have a 50 per cent discount. They would be required to submit a DD of Rs 1 lakh for getting Congress ticket.

Further, Congress leader Shivkumar categorically mentioned that this rule will apply on all the sitting MLAs as well. Sitting MLAs, including him, would have to apply for tickets through this scheme only. He stated that the Party is more important than any individual.

Why is the Congress party raising money from its own members?

Now you must be wondering why the party is raising money like this. Some of you may think that it will be used for public good? But in that case, you will be absolutely wrong. The KPCC President DK Shivkumar informed that the funds collected will be used for the construction of a new party building and as expenses for party advertisement ahead of the Assembly elections.

He lamented that the party has not been receiving any electoral bonds as everything is being cornered by BJP. He added that at least party workers should generate funds for the party.

It did the same thing in Uttar Pradesh. Back then, the party had demanded Rs 11,000 as application fees.

It seems that the Congress party has realised the ground reality. Knowing the fact that it is not in any capacity of winning elections, it has decided to make elections a money minting machine. It is making crores of rupees from elections and the party is mulling intensely to implement its new scheme on a bigger scale.
