It has seen around 60 mega releases in the year so far. Out of these around 90% of movies have failed miserably at the box office. But it seems that Bollywood has now pinned its hope on Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam 2 to save the day.

Drishyam 2 trailer: Picks up from where it ended

Interestingly, the trailer showcases a new and promising entrant in the form of Akshaye Khanna playing the role of Inspector General of Police. Apart from that, the characters of the movie have remained virtually the same.

Are remakes becoming a new epidemic in Bollywood?
Bollywood has been regularly accused of keeping a strategic distance with Creativity and Originality. Stars like Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar and Hrithik Roshan among others have starred in REMAKES. But all these Bollywood remakes have failed miserably. One famous dialogue in the recently released movie CHUP highlighted this issue. It argued that Cinema is an art not a xerox machine.
However, things were completely opposite for Drishyam. The trailer gives an indication that it will be the same for Drishyam 2. Just like Drishyam-2, Ajay Devgn starrer Drishyam (2015) was the remake of MohanLal starrer Malayalam films with the same name. But all the star cast did justice with their role and made the remake comparable or even better than the original for few.

The reason for the stark difference between the fate of other remakes and the Drishyam franchise may be that the sole purpose of those remakes was to make profit. But Drishyam gave audiences an experience to remember for a long time to come. Unlike other remakes, all the characters in the movie have gone into the depth of the story and character arc.
With the trailer, Ajay Devgn and Drishyam 2 franchise have been successful in creating a strong buzz for itself. Thrilled by the experience of the first movie, audiences are eagerly waiting to see the story unravel behind their eyes and enjoy the twists and turns of the engaging crime thriller drama.
