“Apne Ghar Baitho” Himanta’s Epic Smash – Hit to Kejriwal

Himanta Kejriwal

Himanta lambasted Kejriwal: Aam Aadmi Party rose to political prominence through mudslinging and levelling accusations against all the known politicians of the day. It argued to hold every politician accountable for their alleged corrupt deals and misdeeds. However, after coming to power, it wants the same with one minor exception. It wants immunity for itself against the rule of accountability.

Evidently, AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal is touring all the poll bound states where he is selling his so-called successful Delhi Model. But whenever he is confronted on his model, he gets jittery. The kattar imandar party starts playing the victim card. But this time, AAP has messed with the wrong person, who is taking it to the cleaners.

Wind up your belongings and GO HOME

There is no love lost between Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal. For quite some time both the CMs have been engaged in a war of words with each other. Both have been engaged in a twitter spat.

Now, it seems that after showing the right place to Delhi’s Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma has decided to call off the charade of AAP National Convener Arvind Kejriwal and his style of politics.

Recently, in a podcast, the Assam CM Himanta lambasted the Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for doing a negative style of politics. He argued that the mentality of the Delhi CM is totally different. Stating that Delhi is the national capital, he emphasised that the Delhi CM should try to surpass the standard of living and parameters of New York, Washington or Beijing. A national capital should be compared with capitals of other countries and Delhi should try to compete with them.

Notably, comparing the national capital with cities of other states is akin to comparing apples with oranges. Assam CM Himanta Sarma highlighted that being the national capital Delhi receives funds from both Union as well as state government. Whereas, other states have only state governments to look after which have limited resources at their hand as compared to Delhi.

Highlighting the advantage of Delhi in terms of resources at its disposal, he asked, “How can Delhi’s thing be replicated by Manipur or Assam?”

Further, he exposed the so-called Health model of Delhi. He thrashed the Mohalla Clinic which is one of the flagship programmes of the Delhi CM. The feisty CM Sarma seemed in no mood to pull his punches and he exposed the facilities of Mohalla Clinic. He said the Delhi Mohalla Clinic is limited to a box chamber and Assam has better medical colleges and facilities than these Mohalla Clinics.

When asked about Arvind Kejriwal’s rhetorical accusations that the Central government is not letting him work, he gave a blunt response. He advised his Delhi Counterpart that if he feels that he is not allowed to do anything then he should sit at home (Apne Ghar Baitho). He stated that when one becomes Chief Minister of the state, opportunities and challenges are bound to come.

So, you can’t take power without accountability. He said, “If you are enjoying the joy of Power, then experience the sorrow also.”

Past spats

This is not the first instance where the Assam CM has exposed Delhi’s model of governance. Earlier in August, he compared the education standards of his state with Delhi. In fact, he led a red carpet to Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to visit Assam and see for himself the challenges of the hilly and borderline state. He then went on to say that if realise the challenges Assam face and advantage you have, you will stop lecturing.

Back then, the Assam CM had stated that Delhi is a state for name sake, it is more like a municipal corporation. It stands no way near Assam in terms of development.

With relentless analysis and questions on the so-called Delhi model, the Assam CM is fast eroding the political capital of AAP, which was expanding its footprints unabated thanks to the web of lies and deceits it pulls off everytime.

However, with new developments, expose of alleged Liquor scam and relentless pursuit of the Assam CM in holding Delhi CM accountable for his statements, promises and commitment to Delhi voters, AAP is caught wanting for answers. If this continues, the fall of the party will be steeper than the rise it charted on the web of lies and so-called crusade against corruption.
