A scam called Rana Ayyub

Rana Ayyub ED

After the unfortunate 2002 communal riots in Gujarat, the entire Islamo-leftist lobby wished only for one thing. It wanted to frame the then Gujarat CM Narendra Modi under false charges of deliberate inactions and pre-planned conspiracy in the Gujarat riots. The foremost among them was the alleged Journalist Rana Ayyub. Well, she is back in the news. No, not for her regular Hinduphobic statements or peddling fake news or baseless reports. She is alleged of duping the general public and syphoning money in the garb of charity.

ED files a charge sheet against Rana Ayyub

Recently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) filed a chargesheet against alleged journalist Rana Ayyub in a money laundering case. The agency filed the charge sheet before a designated court in Ghaziabad. The agency has named her as an accused in the money laundering case. She has been accused of illegally acquiring funds from the general public in the name of charity.

The case started way back in 2021 when UP Police had filed an FIR against her in a money laundering case. This prompted ED to initiate an investigation against the alleged charges. Resultantly, in February, the agency attached Rs 1.77 crore belonging to Rana Ayyub, including a fixed deposit of Rs 50 lakh.

As per ED findings, Rana Ayyub started three campaigns and raised crores via Ketto. Ketto is an online crowdfunding platform but it is slowly becoming a tool for wokeism inflicted gender fluid persons. If you have ever noticed, you may have found obnoxious fund raisers on Ketto. On Ketto and other such crowdfunding platforms, you may find Iphone waving individuals requesting to raise money for a lavish hair cut or other weird stuff.

Did Rana Ayyub finance her foreign trips from the donation fund?

The ED officials highlighted the name and timeline of these three campaigns started by Rana Ayyub. Between April – May 2020, a campaign raised funds for slum dwellers and farmers. Similarly, she raised funds during June – Sept 2020 in the name of relief work for Assam, Bihar and Maharashtra. Later, during May – June 2021, she raised charity in the name of helping Covid-19 impacted people in India.

Reportedly, she received donations worth Rs 2.69 crore through these three campaigns out of which Rs 80.49 lakh was received in foreign currency. But the agency has claimed that her sole intention was to cheat the general public.

As per ED, she used her family account to raise funds from Ketto platform, particularly her father and sister’s account. Later on, she syphoned these funds in her personal accounts.

In its charge sheet, ED claimed that she submitted fake bills to dupe the general public and claim more expenses towards relief work. Part of the money received as donations was allegedly used for personal expenses, including a vacation trip. During interrogation, the alleged journalist Rana Ayyub could not explain why she had not utilised the donations and certain expenditures.

The ED findings revealed that Rana Ayyub only utilised Rs 29 lakh for actual relief work. Out of the remaining public money meant for needy persons, she utilised the funds for her personal gains and lavishes. She created a fixed deposit of Rs 50 lakh for herself. She transferred another Rs 50 lakh to a new bank account.

The ED also accused that Rana Ayyub violated FCRA norms and received these funds from foreign countries without any approval or registration from the government. Under Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010, it is mandatory to get prior approval for receiving donations from foreign countries.

Coincidentally” when the Income Tax department initiated an investigation for allegedly violation of FCRA norms, Rana Ayyub returned the foreign donations to cover her tracks.

The ED said, “ED Investigation has established that Rana Ayyub had launched the aforesaid campaigns with the sole intention to cheat the general public and acquired Proceeds of Crime in the form of FD and balances in bank accounts projecting them as untainted”.

Other notorious feats of Rana Ayyub

The alleged Journalist and rabid Hindu hater, Rana Ayyub has been notorious for propagating falsehoods to peddle the narrative of Minority oppression in India. She has been alleged for making a multitude of Hinduphobic comments, deranging Hindu rituals and festivals. But at the same time, she has been shielding extremist elements in the garb of religious oppression and so-called illegal acts of the “fascist” Modi government.

As the saying goes, birds of a feather flock together. She found a perfect match for her ranting against the Modi government and making outright anti-India statements. She has been writing for the Washington Post but there too, she is not taken seriously courtesy of her frivolous past track record. In fact, her credentials as Journalists are questionable.

She was earlier associated with the notorious yellow journalism portal, Tehelka. One of the founders of Tehelka was Tarun Tejpal, accused of sexually assault a reporter among other undefendable controversies.

SC junks her fictional book on Gujarat Riots

Rana Ayyub has a habit of spewing venom and making anti-India statements. She regularly deranges Indian civilisation on foreign media portals like Aljazeera and New York Times among others. But her most notorious litany of lies and falsehoods were exposed by the apex court of the nation. She had written a book titled as “Gujarat Files – Anatomy of a coverup”. The book had lesser credibility than Asrani playing the role of Jailor in Sholay.

The Supreme Court slammed her book and discarded it as full of surmises, conjectures, and suppositions. The court opined that the book has no evidentiary value as the opinion of a person is not accepted in the realm of evidence.

Earlier, the lobby had been using her book to level baseless accusations and shield murderers of then Gujarat Home Minister Haren Pandya. Home Minister Haren Pandya was murdered on March 26, 2003. Gujarat High Court had acquitted the 12 accused in the case. In July, 2019, the SC overturned the judgment of Gujarat High Court in the murder case.

The CBI had filed before the court that the former home minister was murdered to avenge the 2002 communal riots in the state. Had the Supreme Court not called out her rubbish claims the leftist lobby would have kept on repeating the same falsehoods against PM Modi as it did for around two decades.

It is a great irony that the main victim or sufferer of the Islamo-leftist lobby is not the Modi government or Hindus whom they attack relentlessly. But these lobbies have been cheating and fooling the Minority communities in the name of fighting for their rights against the so-called fascist government trying to snatch their basic human rights. As it happened in this case where Rana Ayyub allegedly duped them in the name of charity.

By generating irrational phobias of communalism, they have been rallying the community behind them by mere virtual signalling rather than providing them real progress like education and health infrastructure.
