16-year-old Donnarumma Gukesh has created history in the Amches Rapid Online Chess tournament. He set the record by defeating World Champion Magnus Carlsen. Gukesh has become the youngest player in the world to beat Carlsen as world champion. Donnarumma Gukesh defeated Carlsen in the ninth round match. Earlier on Sunday, Carlsen was also defeated by 19-year-old Arjun Arigasi of India in the same tournament.
With this win, 16-year-old Donnarumma Gukesh has moved up to the third position with 21 points after 12 rounds. Poland’s Yan Christoph Duda is in first place. He has 25 marks. At the same time, Shakhriyar Memedyarov of Azerbaijan is in second place with 23 points. Gukesh defeated the world champion in 29 moves.

Donnarumma Gukesh has defeated Carlsen at the age of 16 years, four months and 20 days. Earlier this record was in the name of R Pragnananda of India. He defeated world number one Carlsen at the age of 16 years, six months and 10 days at the Air Things Masters in February this year. Then Pragnananda had won in 39 moves.
After this important victory, Gukesh said – “It is always special to beat Magnus, but I did not find myself performing in that match.” Donnarumma Gukesh suffered a setback in Round 10 when he lost to Duda, but also made a spectacular comeback in the next two rounds by defeating Mamedyarov and Erik Hansen.
Earlier, India’s Arigasi had defeated Carlsen in the seventh round. The 19-year-old Arigasi had lost to compatriot Vidit Gujrathi in the first round but made a good comeback after that. Arigasi currently has the same number of points (21) as Gukesh and is in fourth place.
