Anshu Malik, an Indian freestyle wrestler, was born on August 5, 2001. At the 2021 World Wrestling Championships in Oslo, Norway, she took home the silver medal in the women’s 57 kg category. Along with Vinesh Phogat and Divya Kakran, Malik won the gold medal at the Asian Wrestling Championships in 2021.

She won a bronze medal in the 57 kg category at the Ulaanbaatar 2022 Asian Wrestling Championships in April 2022.

After competing in the women’s 57 kg freestyle final at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in 2022, she was forced to accept the Silver Medal.

At the Chaudhary Bharat Singh Memorial Sports School in Nidani, Jind, she completed her education (Haryana). She became more interested in wrestling after seeing her brother practise at the CBSM Sports School and compete in the sport (Jind). From that point forward, she also considered pursuing a career in wrestling. Later, she persuaded her father to enrol her in wrestling. Dharamvir Malik, Anshu’s father, was a professional wrestler who also served in the CISF.

Manju Malik is her mother, and she works as a teacher. She has also won freestyle wrestling competitions in the past. She has a younger brother named Shubham Malik, who competes nationally in freestyle wrestling. Bir Singh, her grandfather, was formerly a Kabaddi player. Her grandmother’s name is Vedavati.

2012 saw the start of her wrestling career at the Nidani Sports School in Jind (Haryana).

Her father always made sure she had easy access from her house to the training facilities in Sonipat and Lucknow.

She quickly received admission to the Lucknow-based Sports Authority of India (SAI) national centre of excellence (Uttar Pradesh).

She took home her first gold medal from the national school games in 2016.

She also took home the bronze at the Tbilisi World Cadet Championships in 2016 (Georgia).

She subsequently successfully defended her title for the following two years, winning the gold medal at the 2017 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece, and the bronze medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Zagreb, Croatia.
