The unsettling arrogance of Hardeep Singh Puri

Hardeep Singh Puri tweet

The Bhartiya Janata Party unlike the other political parties of India has been very vocal about its intent and has never compromised on the issue of national security and sovereignty. However, one black sheep has the potential to pull the entire system down and the arrogant Hardeep Singh Puri is the similar one that the BJP needs to get rid of from its flock.

Hardeep Singh Puri’s Rohingya shocker

On August 17th, India’s Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri put out a tweet explaining about Modi government’s plan of reallocating the Rohingya refugees in Delhi. The tweet posted by Puri elaborated that all Rohingya Refugees will be shifted to EWS flats in the Bakkarwala area of Delhi and they will be provided with basic amenities, UNHCR IDs and round-the-clock Delhi Police protection.

Hardeep Singh Puri tried to portray the infamous illegal migrants that are Rohingyas as ‘Refugees’ and stated that India has always welcomed those who have sought refuge in the county. Along with that he also stated that “those who made a career out of spreading canards on India’s refugee policy deliberately linking it to CAA will be disappointed.”

BJP Supporters gave it back to the GOI

As Puri elaborated on how India followed the UN Refugee Convention, the micro-blogging site Twitter was on fire. His tweet went viral and the decision drew ire and disappointment. It brought huge criticism to the BJP government. Later, the Ministry of Home Affairs, came to control the damage and stated that no directions have been given to provide EWS flats to “Rohingya illegal migrants at Bakkarwala,” and asserted that the foreign ministry has already taken up the matter of their deportation.

Well, it has been around 55 hours and the tweet is still there on the platform, spreading misinformation with around 2000 retweets and 6500 quote tweets.

Arrogant Puri has put the Modi government’s intent in question

Hardeep Singh Puri has done something that has called the Modi government’s intent into question. To state, the mass migration of Rohingya Muslims from Bangladesh and Myanmar poses a great social and security threat to India. Rohingyas are illegal immigrants who are feeding on Indian resources and being a kutumb is never a good idea for any nation.

Also, the ones crying about Human Rights, India is not a signatory of the UN convention relating to the Status of Refugees, 1951 and Refugees Protocol, 1967, thus, India has no international obligation toward any refugee crisis. And unlike Hardeep Singh Puri , the Modi government and PM Modi himself understands this very well and this is the reason why they have been vocal regarding the deportation of Rohingyas.

But Puri is on his own spree to please the UN organs, a practice that has been never followed by PM Narendra Modi. To add on to Union Minister Puri’s knowledge, Rohingyas in India are not refugees but illegal migrants who need to be kicked out ASAP.

All that Puri can do to stop maligning the govt further, is delete the tweet and stop the misinformation from doing more damage.
