Blasphemy, even though there is no law on it in India, has become a real thing in the nation. We have often been witnessing how, in the name of blasphemy, multiple individuals have been hacked to death in India. Ever since Nupur Sharma allegedly made a controversial remark on the Prophet, the Islamists have begun hurling rape threats and death threats not only to Nupur Sharma but to her supporters as well. However, we have yet another controversy that has erupted in the last few days.
The controversy around T Raja Singh
Telangana BJP MLA T Raja Singh was arrested on Tuesday this week. He was also suspended from the BJP. Moreover, he has also been asked to respond to a show cause notice for his statements within 10 days. The reason? Well, he allegedly made derogatory remarks against the Prophet Muhammad.
He, in a video, was seen lashing out at comedian Munawar Faruqui for alleged derogatory remarks against Hindu deities. He had asked to stop Faruqui’s show in Hyderabad saying that he would burn down the set at the venue.
T Raja Singh felt that Faruqui had hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus. Thus, he allegedly made derogatory remarks about the Prophet in the video.
Telangana Congress leader wants to burn Raja’s constituency
Soon after the video went viral, it sparked a controversy and leaders from various political parties came out slamming the BJP leaders’ alleged statement against Prophet Muhammad.
Telangana Congress leader Rashid Khan too jumped onto the bandwagon saying that “there would be law and order issues in the constituency of BJP MLA T Raja Singh if he is not arrested for his alleged controversial remarks against Prophet Muhammad.”
He said, “If Raja Singh is not arrested on 23, I will turn Goshamahal (Raja Singh’s constituency) into ashes on 24.”
He also added that “I am ready to break law and order and enter Goshamahal. I will not be responsible for it then.”
Meanwhile, T Raja Singh was arrested on Tuesday only. He was booked under IPC Sections 153a (promoting enmity between different groups), 295 (injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult the religion), and 505 (public mischief).
Given the above statements, I’ve some mind-boggling questions coming across my mind. Is it fair to punish a whole constituency for the statement given by an individual? Is this Congress’ way to deal with those whom they found offensive? Is this okay for a leader to threaten around 3 lakh people to kill them?
Well, coming from a leader of the Congress party, these statements shouldn’t be surprising at all. This is Congress’ way of justice. This is their way to retaliate. While they cannot call out the beheading that took place in the last few months, they can openly declare they would burn lakhs of people alive only because they belong to a constituency whose BJP leader has hurt their religious sentiments.
