Ram Janmabhoomi has been proudly restored. Kashi Complex too has been restored its glory. Shivling has been found in the Gyanvapi ‘Mosque’. However, there’s one mandir left that needs our immediate attention. It is Bhagwan Brahma’s Mandir located in Pushkar. Do you know what made us bring it to your notice? Well, hold your horses.
Pushkar Mandir needs immediate attention
The condition of the world’s only Brahma temple located in Pushkar, Rajasthan, is deteriorating day by day. Such is the state of the temple that this precious heritage can be destroyed anytime. The original structure of the Pushkar Mandir has many cracks. Not only this, it is in a very dilapidated state and broken from many places. Despite the fact that many devotees from throughout the world arrive here, they are disheartened to see the poor condition of the only temple of Bhagwan Brahma.
Sukhram Bhinder, secretary of the Pushkar Mandir committee and SDM, informed that “he has written several letters to the ASI (Archaeological Survey of India), but there is no response.” He added that the permission of ASI is required to carry out the work needed for its re-development. He also informed that “Two large cracks have developed in the outer part and one crack is inside. The plaster of the sanctum sanctorum of the main temple has also been damaged.”
The situation is way worse than what you could have imagined. As per the information given by Sukhram, “two ancient Shiva temples present on the ground floor of the temple have been closed for worship, as their drainage system itself has been jammed. When devotees offer water to the Shivling, the water does not go out. There is also a possibility of leakage in the foundation. People are forced to drink sewer water. A provision of the budget was made to make the lake sewer-free, but the blueprint of the plan could not be prepared. It has tilted to one side due to the sinking of the parikrama route.”
Rajasthan Tourism Development Corporation (RTDC) chief Dharmendra Rathore also informed Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Culture Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal about the same.
Pushkar Mahateerth
Pushkar Mandir is the only Mandir where Bhagwan Brahma is worshipped by Bhakts. Reference to the Mandir can be found in at least six purans. Padma Puran states that when Bhagwan Brahma fought and killed the Raksash Vajranabha, the Kamal fell on the ground in 3 places.
All 3 places later turned into lakes. These are chronologically named as the Jyeshta Pushkar or greatest or first Pushkar, the Madya Pushkar or middle Pushkar Lake, and Kanishta Pushkar or youngest Pushkar lake. Considering the fact that Bhagwan Brahma is one of the 3 trimurtis in Hinduism and that too related to creation, it should have been the most highly revered Mandir. There is a reason why Pushkar is named as Mahateerath.

However, the sad truth is that very few people know about Pushkar Mandir. Because the glory, history and culture associated with the Mandir has never been told. As a consequence, the temple is in a dilapidated state. It is high time that the government intervenes to save Pushkar temple as it is the only temple of Bhagwan Brahma where he is worshipped. Since the mandir is a matter of religious importance, it should be restored as soon as possible.
