Congress and discrimination seem synonymous now. Congress being the governing political party in Rajasthan has once again proved itself incapable of governing a state. This can be evidenced by an 11.01 per cent increase in the registration of criminal cases in 2021, compared to 2020, in the state of Rajasthan. To add one more case in it, the congress-ruled state has marked a recent death of a Dalit child.
A Dalit boy thrashed to death
In a recent report, it was found that a nine-year-old Dalit boy was beaten to death by a school teacher in Rajasthan’s Jalore for allegedly touching a pitcher of water. Indra Meghwal, a student of a private school in the Jalore district of Rajasthan, was beaten up and later succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Ahmedabad.
In another development in the case, the police have arrested the teacher, Chail Singh, under sections of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, in addition to murder charges.
While explaining the Dalit boy’s condition, his father said, “He remained admitted at the hospital in Udaipur for about a week, but seeing no improvement, we took him to Ahmedabad. But his condition did not improve even there and he finally succumbed.”
Keeping in light the core details of the said case, it is imperative to note that on one hand, India is rigorously fighting with its neighbouring countries amid growing concerns with China and Pakistan. On the other hand, instead of supporting the country, some ill-minded political parties are jolting the nation from inside. Instead of contributing to the growing economy, leftist parties are busy strengthening their tactics of corruption and nepotism.

Rajasthan is suffering under the congress rule
The casteist violence is a grim lived reality, especially for a large section involving the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities. The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data shows that some states including Rajasthan account for two-thirds of such crimes. The congress ruled state registered around 6000 cases under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. And the figures further surged to more than 8500 cases in the year 2020.
To your surprise, Rajasthan’s capital city Jaipur accounts for an increased share of crimes against Dalits. The city initially marked a 6 per cent rise in 2017. However, its share of crimes increased to a straight 13.4 per cent in the year 2018. The city had recorded the worst amongst 19 other metropolitan cities.
Whether it’s the beheading of a tailor or a Dalit riding a mare, the incessant recording of crime cases are proving states unsafe for Dalits and other oppressed communities.
After realizing these facts and figures, it is perennial to note that though congress scions are busy protesting in the name of public welfare, their aim is something else altogether.
The grim reality is that they want to disrupt the incumbent government’s publicly motivated policies. Apparently, the congress leaders are blind and deaf in correcting the atrocities being carried out in their own backyard in Rajasthan.

No state is safe for Dalits
Over the past few years, various states including Rajasthan have witnessed continuous cases of violence, crime, murder, rape, and whatnot. In the modern day and age, where India is emerging as a developed nation, the increasing crime rate is pulling down the developed economy.
Expressing serious concerns over crimes against the oppressed sections, especially Dalits, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had earlier called the states and Union territories for identifying areas that are prone to atrocities against Dalits.
Sadly, they have been subjected to discrimination and humiliation since the distant past. The remnants of the same are still visible though such discrimination are now restricted to a few pockets leading to their poor economic and social status.
From southern states to now the northern state of Rajasthan, the Indian states are gradually becoming “atrocity prone” regions, leading the oppressed communities in distress. It’s high time to alarm the world’s largest democracy to immediately curtail the existing discrimination among communities.
