National Herald: ED has got something big about Sonia and Rahul

National Herald ED

Have you heard the famous saying “with great power comes great responsibility”? Apparently, Voters gave Congress the responsibility of governing the country. But it seems that it misused power for its personal gains and amassing illicit assets. Its failed governance model hints that power went into its head. It bypassed laws, discarded all checks and balances and took the country’s resources for a toss. Allegations of Corruption against its leaders became a daily news affair.

The extent of alleged Corruption ran so deep that even after eight-and-a-half years of being out of power; its dirty closet is full of skeletons which are tumbling endlessly. However, this time it seems that it has run out of luck. Just like Shishupal, it has committed its last grave mistake. Finally the law is fast catching on its leaders and it seems that Justice will prevail.

Law is same for the Royal Highnesses

Tenure of every Congress government has been marred with allegations of grave Corruption. With this, the party made its name synonymous with Corruption. However, all these allegations never completed its legal recourse as it enjoyed monopoly over power. But not anymore. Its karma is fast catching on it. All its past deeds are being probed thoroughly. During investigation, the law enforcement agencies seem to have found incriminating documents against its leaders, propaganda outlet National Herald and its associate company Young India Limited.

On 2nd July, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) carried out raids at the head office of the National Herald in Delhi. The financial agency, ED, could not get the necessary documentation required as authorised representatives were missing during the raid. This prompted the ED officials to seal the Young India’s office ‘temporarily’. The officials stated that it has done so in order to “preserve the evidence”.

ED has been conducting raids at multiple locations as part of its ongoing action against money laundering. On Tuesday, ED conducted raids on the National Herald office under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The ED officials said that the searches were executed to “gather additional evidence with regard to the trail of funds and they are against those entities who were involved in the National Herald-linked transactions”.

Prior to these raids, the ED had grilled Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi on these irregularities and money transactions between National Herald – Associated Journals Ltd (AJL) – Young India Ltd.

It is ironic to see that Congress workers are calling it an act of “vendetta”. Contrary to that, its senior leaders Sonia and Rahul Gandhi have not been able to explain the transactions and money flow. Instead they seem to have adopted a shameful strategy. They have made late Congress leader Motilal Vohra as the scapegoat for all these alleged illegal transactions and Corruption in the National Herald case which is said to be of the tune of Rs 2000 crores.

However, they can’t run away from their responsibility as the mother-son duo enjoys the majority stake (76%) in the tainted company. Apart from that, everyone in the political circle knows exactly who calls the shot in Congress. Obviously it is Madam Sonia ji who Enjoyed greater power than PM Manmohan Singh during the UPA regime.

After being in power for so long, it is hard for Congress to even think that they are not above the law. They can’t digest the fact that they can be questioned for their irrational and shoddy decisions. It has to get off the high horse and assist the course of Justice rather than being a hindrance in it.

Sealing the Young India office and heavy police deployment outside Congress President’s residence seems to be a sign of future actions to come in the case. ED’s persistent questioning of mother-son duo, documents gathered from several raids seems to have put the duo in the dock. With indisputable money flow and shoddy transactions, the ED seems to have built a water tight case. All these are not a good sign for the Congress party, its high command Sonia and Rahul Gandhi. These all give hope to the general masses that law is the same for everyone and even the biggies are not above the law. They will face punitive punishment for their criminalities, once found guilty.
