Corrupt Politicians have always tried to tame the police. They want the police officials and the system to work according to their whims and fancies. For this, they love to follow a carrot and stick policy in which merit in upholding rule of law doesn’t qualify as a parameter. Loyalists are rewarded and law-abiding officers face the wrath of these politicians. It seems that an honest officer has irked the politicians so much that, allegedly, there was an attempt to kill him.
Is the accident a coincidence or a planned conspiracy?
Many times what seems to be true at first has many layers of falsehoods attached to it. The same seems to have happened recently. Recently, CBI officer Rupesh Kumar Srivastava met with an accident. A truck hit his SUV while he was on his way to Gorakhpur to meet his brother. It is important to note that he came to Gorakhpur only for one day. After this he had to further go to his hometown, Maharajganj, as he was on a holiday.
However, this doesn’t seem to be a case of road accident rather a well planned conspiracy. According to a media report, the truck hit his car twice. It is alleged that the truck tried to crush Rupesh’s SUV. He and his driver survived the hits courtesy of the presence of mind of his driver. However, the truck driver who tried to ram his SUV died in the accident. The truck lost its balance after the hits and overturned.
CBI officer Rupesh Kumar Srivastava suspected a conspiracy behind the accident. He filed an FIR in the case alleging the accident as an attempt to murder. He told police that when his vehicle reached Bargadhi crossing, a truck hit his SUV twice from the rear.
Manoj Kumar Awasthi, Additional Superintendent of Police, Gorakhpur, informed that Rupesh Kumar Srivastava had suspected a conspiracy behind the attack.
He said, “We are doing a background check of the truck owner and its driver. Police are also scanning their call details to collect any leads. The investigation in the case has begun.” (sic)

Who is Rupesh Kumar Srivastava?
It is important to note that Rupesh Kumar Srivastava is the CBI officer who is probing several cases of politicians. He is the same officer who arrested Former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav. On 21st of August, 2019, he also arrested Former Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram from his residence. People are drawing links of these important cases related to powerful leaders, and the ‘accident’. Strangely, very recently, Lalu Yadav’s son Tejashwi Yadav has tasted power. The accident took place in Purvanchal (Eastern UP) which has a deep influence from Bihar.
There is a saying that one who digs graves for others often falls in the same grave. The times have changed and the law will soon catch all the perpetrators of crime, no matter what the motive is behind this case. There should be a detailed investigation which will help shedding light on the case and will bring out the real truth. However, it is important to note that in the past many coincidences happened in which a crucial witness or officer gets killed. So the safety of these officers are paramount and the law must take its course irrespective of how much big is the name behind this conspiracy.
