Google is an American company, which prides itself on giving freedom of expression to its users and workers. It has always been projecting itself as neutral and does not link itself with any ideology. But the way Google, of late, has been acting; it seems that the search giant has started following the footsteps of liberals and anti-Modi cabal as it emulates their idea to discredit the work done by Modi government.
Google’s unique tribute to India’s 75th year of Independence
India is all set to celebrate the 75th year of its independence. Google India, on Friday, also took this opportunity to wish India on this occasion through a heartfelt post on Twitter. The post included a flashback of clips of various achievements that the country has witnessed in the past 75 years. From winning the 1983 cricket World Cup to the 1991 reforms and the green revolution, the video displays the milestones achieved by India in the best way possible.
“Take a moment to step back in time and celebrate some of India’s most game-changing moments over the past 75 years,” the post read.
An online project named ‘India Ki Udaan’ was also launched by Google to help Indians explore the rich heritage of the country through archives and illustrations.
You see, the project has been launched under the collaboration of Google and the Ministry of Culture to emphasize “reaching informative online content that showcases the contributions of Indians and the evolution of India since 1947 to support the government’s year-long ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ programme.”
The government has launched multiple initiatives under the Azadi ka Amrit Mohatsav and the newest addition of which is the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign’. Under the campaign, over 200 million Tricolours will be hoisted between August 13 and 15.
The Goods
You see, the fascinating video and photos have been released to highlight the developments and achievements of India. India’s 75 years of growth, achievements have been beautifully depicted.
The video starts with the line, “After our long search for freedom was over, freedom asked us what will you search for now? And we said we will search for a tomorrow.” Then, it went on to depict the milestones that India has witnessed till now. Beginning with the first five-year plan of India, the video displays the green revolution, white revolution, and every achievement of the nation.
From the first Oscar, the first transgender mayor to the 1983 world cup, the video hardly left any prominent achievements of India. You must agree that it is a beautifully made video that could leave any proud Indian teary-eyed at the end.
Here’s what is missing
While the software giant needs to be applauded for such a beautiful and emotional depiction of India’s achievement, it is necessary to call out the missing threads in the video. You see, the video didn’t miss any accomplishments of India but it can be said only if the achievements before 2014 are considered. Digging deeper, one can easily realise that it has not covered the developments that India went through after the Modi government stormed to power.
It has missed out on various other reforms that Modi government introduced in order to take the nation to newer heights. Here are some of the achievements that Google should have inducted in its video.
Abrogation of article 370
On August 5, 2019, The Bill to abrogate Article 370 and to bring the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh in the mainstream was passed in the parliament. The special status to Jammu and Kashmir was abrogated after the bill was passed. The Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh was splitted.
Construction of Ram Mandir
The construction of Ram Temple was in the manifesto of the BJP and the government also fulfilled its promise. The foundation stone of the new Ram Temple was laid in August 2020. Ram Lalla were reinstated in the garbhagriha making the crores of Hindus pride and emotional.
Triple Talaq
India shunned all the notions of pseudo-secularism that have plagued its politics for long and in a progressive step gave legislative sanction to criminalize the archaic practice of instant triple talaq ultimately restoring lost dignity of Muslim women reeling under regressive religious laws.
CAA
The Act makes it easier for persecuted minorities from India’s neighbours – Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan – to become citizens of India as it entitles Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis, and Christians facing religious persecution in these three nations, to seek Indian citizenship. The Act says the refugees of these six communities will be given Indian citizenship if they entered India on or before 31st December 2014, after residing in India for five years, vide Amendment 2 of the Citizenship Act, 1955.
Jan Dhan Yojana
As Prime Minister Modi came to the helm of affairs in 2014, he launched Jan Dhan Yojana which allowed anyone above 18 years of age to open a bank account in which they could deposit money according to their convenience. Earlier, a customer had to maintain a certain minimum balance to keep his account active; this condition was waved by the government for the Jan Dhan account.

Believe it or not, these are the certain achievements that even the world has been discussing about. In such a case, their absence in the video is nothing but disrespect to the Modi government which has turned the fate of the nation because of which India has emerged as the new global giant.
