Manoj Kumar Tiwary was born on 14 November 1985. He is an Indian politician and cricketer. He is a right-handed batsman who occasionally bowls leg breaks. Tiwary is a powerful right-handed batsman. In the 2007-08 Commonwealth Bank Series, he made his international debut against Australia, scoring only two runs in his only innings.

He was later named to the Indian team for the 2011 West Indies tour as a replacement for Yuvraj Singh, who opted out due to a lung infection. Manoj Tiwary appeared in the fourth and fifth ODIs of the series. He was later chosen for England’s October tour of India.

He scored 24 runs in the fifth ODI. He also appeared in one T20 match and scored 15 runs. Tiwary was later named to the squad for the ODIs against the West Indies in November and December.

He played in the 5th ODI in Chennai, when India trailed by two wickets for one run in the first over. Tiwary then went on to play a solid inning, scoring his maiden ODI century (104 not out) despite having cramps and retiring soon after.

India eventually won the match by 34 runs, and he was named Man-Of-The-Match for his game-winning knock. Even after his unbeaten century,

Tiwary was forced to sit in the reserves for 14 consecutive games. He did, however, make an auspicious comeback as an all-rounder in place of leg spinner Rahul Sharma against Sri Lanka in Colombo, taking 4/61 from 10 overs with his leg-breaks.

Tiwary joined the Delhi Daredevils during the first two seasons of the Indian Premier League. Before the 2010 IPL season, he was traded to the Kolkata Knight Riders in exchange for Moises Henriques.

The Kolkata Knight Riders signed him in the auction for the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League. In the 2012 competition, he scored the winning runs for Kolkata.

Tiwary was acquired by the Rising Pune Supergiants team in February 2017 for the 2017 Indian Premier League, and he was acquired by the Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 IPL auction in January 2018.

Political Career

In February 2021, Tiwary joined Mamata Banerjee’s All India Trinamool Congress party.
