Yusuff Ali Musaliam Veettil Abdul Kader popularly known as Yusuf Ali was born on 15 November 1955. JJ is an Indian businessman and billionaire based in the United Arab Emirates. Yusuff Ali was named the top Indian business owner in the Arab World in 2018 by Forbes Middle East. In 2006, he began his large business ventures in India by establishing the Lulu Convention Centre in his hometown of Thrissur, Kerala. Yusuff Ali purchased 4.99% of Thrissur-based Catholic Syrian Bank (CSB) and 4.99% of Thrissur-based Dhanlaxmi Bank in 2013.

He also increased his stake in the Aluva-based Federal Bank to 4.47% in 2013. Yusuff Ali purchased a 2% stake in South Indian Bank, another Thrissur-based bank, in 2014.

LuLu Group International began as a family-owned and operated business. Yusuff Ali expanded the business after joining it to include the import and distribution of frozen products from Europe and the United States.

The products were not only available in Abu Dhabi, but also the other Emirates. The company quickly expanded into both food and non-food categories.

The company also established cold storage facilities, meat, and food processing plants, as well as large-scale import and distribution to hotel chains, catering companies, and shipping services. By the 1980s, the group controlled a sizable portion of the UAE’s wholesale and retail food markets.

He is married with three children and lives in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Sabeena, his eldest daughter, is married to billionaire businessman Shamsheer Vayalil.

His second daughter, Shafeena, is married to Adeeb Ahamed, the CEO of Lulu International Exchange and Twenty14 Holdings, the group’s hospitality investment arm.

The helicopter carrying M.A. Yusuff Ali, his wife, and three others, including the pilots, crash-landed in a swamp near Kochi, Kerala, on April 11, 2021.

Both were unharmed and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Due to inclement weather, the businessman’s private helicopter experienced a technical malfunction.

In 2019, he opened his second shopping mall in India, the Y Mall, in Triprayar, Thrissur, Kerala.
