Ayman al Zawahiri conked off without Ghazwa-e-Hind

Ayman al Zawahiri Killed

Ayman al Zawahiri, the one who assumed the leadership of Al-Qaeda after Osama bin Laden’s assassination has been killed by the US. Biden, who was under isolation, did come out to announce the same. While the conversation may be constrained around the US, the assassination will be a turning point in Indian polity, read as I explain.

Ayman al Zawahiri: The no.2 in Al-Qaeda

Al-Zawahiri, the leader of terrorist group Al Qaeda, was killed in a US strike in Afghanistan. Al-Zawahiri was the one who plotted the 9/11 attacks that established the organisation as a dreaded terrorist outfit. The United States had placed a $25 million bounty on his head.

Zawahiri was a surgeon, born and brought up in Egypt. A 14-year-old Arabi and French-speaking Zawahiri become a member of the Muslim Brotherhood. He later formed Egyptian Islamic Jihad, which he later merged with Al-Qaeda as they both furthered their nefarious agenda.

US assassinates Ayman al Zawahiri

The no.2 in Al-Qaeda, Ayman al Zawahiri has been killed by the US Intelligence forces. Senile Biden who was under Covid isolation, himself came out to announce a thumping victory as he said, “This terrorist leader is no more.”

Biden formally announced the operation from the White House and said, “He will never again, never again, allow Afghanistan to become a terrorist safe haven because he is gone..” Biden remarked that the US intelligence officials tracked Ayman al Zawahiri to a home in downtown Kabul and killed the terrorist. US armed forces fired two Hellfire missiles from a drone.

As per reports, Zawahiri died after a strike in Kabul at 6:18 AM (0148 GMT) on Sunday. The attack was also confirmed by Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid while condemning the same, as he called it a violation of “international principles” and the 2020 agreement on US troops withdrawal.

India has a clear lesson

To note, the Al-Qaeda leader Ayman al Zawahiri was killed in an urban safe house in Kabul, Afghanistan. His assassination is an important chapter as far as the global war on terror is concerned. But the assassination does have a message for India.

As per a UN report released this year, it was said that Al-Qaeda enjoys greater freedom under the new Afghan regime. However, the operational capability is limited. To add to that he has been killed in the Afghanistan capital establishes the fact that terrorist infrastructure continues to be active in Afghanistan, a country which is now being controlled by the Taliban. And while engaging with Taliban, India needs to keep its eyes open so as to keep Indian soil safe.

The man aiming of Al-Qaeda in Indian subcontinent is dead

The UN report also mentioned AQIS (Al-Qaeda in the Indian subcontinent) saying that it “is reported to have 180 to 400 fighters.” To substantiate, for the last two decades, Zawahiri released videos focused on Islam’s war against the West. Two of these videos were entirely about India, which announced the formation of Al-Qaeda in the Indian subcontinent. He also spoke on and off on the issue of Kashmir and toed the anti-India line.

The two videos were released in 2014 and 2022, entirely focused on India, where he elaborated on his vision for jihad in the sub-continent.  In the 2014 video, he announced the formation of “Organisation of The Base of Jihad in the Indian Sub-Continent” confirming that he has not forgotten his Muslim brothers in India. He said jihadists would break the borders of British India and asked for Muslims in the subcontinent to unite.

Recently in 2022, Zawahiri released a video in which he spoke of the Hijab controversy ongoing in India, where he showered praises on Muskan Khan, the girl whose video went viral chanting “Allah hu Akbar”.

As Biden thumps his chest for assassinating Zawahiri, in the coming years, India’s role will be crucial as the nation is emerging as a power centre in the South Asian region.
