The former Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, who transformed Japan from a pacifist nation to a military power was assassinated on Friday, while he was campaigning for the upcoming elections. It was a very personal loss for all the Indians, as Abe was a popular figure in India. He was loved for the kind of geopolitical strategist he was.
Abe had revived Japan’s bilateral ties with India, and was the one who formalised QUAD and coined the concept of Indo-Pacific to counter China’s Asia-Pacific. He was the one who had till date kept China from invading Taiwan. Abe was a visionary; he gained respect and admiration not only in his country but worldwide. Abe’s contributions transformed Japan as well as the world, but a few Indian politicians seem to neither have respect nor any shame, as they are busy using Abe’s assassination to further their propaganda.
TMC mouthpiece uses Abe’s assassination for propaganda
The opposition parties of India and their leaders have been protesting against the new recruitment policy and have pointed all the blazing guns towards the Modi government. However, they have stooped a new low by linking Abe’s assassination with the new recruitment scheme ‘Agnipath’.
In a story published in TMC’s mouthpiece ‘Jago Bangla’, the assassination of former Japanese PM Shinzo Abe was linked with the Agnipath scheme in order to target the central government.
In the story, it was further explained that Abe was killed by a former Japanese defence personnel who wasn’t getting a pension. The shooter was identified as 41 year old Tetsuya Yamagami, who had worked in Japan’s Maritime self-Defence Forces, also known as the Japanese Navy.

For TMC, Agnipath is all about pension
As the assassin belonged to the Japanese self-defence forces, the TMC shamelessly compared the Japanese Maritime Self-Defence Forces with the Agnipath Scheme. All this was done by the TMC mouthpiece to target the Modi government for its new recruitment scheme, alleging that through this scheme, the government’s intention is to employ youth in the defence forces for a short term and let them go four years later with no post-retirement benefits. With this Mamata Banerjee’s political outfit claimed that the assassination was orchestrated out of frustration.

The opposition, in order to target PM Modi and his government, has stooped so low that now the death of a leader of a nation has been compared with a progressive scheme.
And TMC is not alone in this. Earlier on Friday, Congress leader Surendra Rajput drew a similar parallel between the assassination and the recruitment scheme.
Agnipath scheme has been brought in to transform the Human Resource, and reduce the average age of the armed forces, thus resulting agile and fitter personnel in the armed forces further strengthening the security of the nation.
However, it seems that the opposition parties of India and its leaders are too naïve to understand the sensitivity of the situation and behave accordingly.
